Taylor Chang-Babaian, Hair and Makeup Stylist:

Hi, my name is Taylor. I am going to show you how to revamp long, limp long, straight hair after a long day at the office. Let's get started! So, I'm spraying hairspray into the root of her head. The biggest challenge, I think, that straight hair faces throughout the day is that it gets limp, flat and very oily at the root. Especially, if you have "virgin hair" meaning there is no color in it. We want to add that body back up so we are going to use an alcohol-based hairspray to absorb some of that oil. I'm just going to give it a nice brush so we get some lift at the roots. Okay, flip for me. Now we have a lot of height. Now that we have a lot of our volume, I am just going to go through and smooth our any of the bumps we might have in the hair.

I am just going to take my teasing brush, you can also use a comb, and just use that to help straighten out the ends. I am using a ceramic iron. This is a great way to smooth it out especially if you have a tendency to put your hands in your hair throughout the day. I like ceramic irons. They are not as harsh on the hair as a regular iron. This one is about an inch in width. Just take it all the way to the ends and we are just going to do that all the way around the head.

So, what I'm going to do with this front area is kind of round it out using my flat iron almost doing a half curl but just twisting and that is going to give it a more polished look as opposed to just stick straight hair. Again, I am taking my flat iron and just twisting it. And you only have to do this in the front area; you do not have to do it all the way around.

Now, we are going to be adding a little bit of shine spray to the ends. Whenever you are dealing with shine with straight hair you want to make sure you start at the bottom because the roots already look so shiny and sometimes even greasy, so you just want to smooth out the hair and make it look polished. We are just going to start with a little bit to the ends to also add some shine there. We are going to work our way up. Just very lightly at the top -- not too much. Just running a brush through it to get that spray shine on even and push up the hair for some more height. It's going to add a little bit more volume to the roots. You can also tease the roots if you'd like -- whatever you like. And there we have it, revamped straight hair.

I have straight hair that I don't color and I swear that Shielo's Volume Line gives me more swing to my hair when I use it. I also use Shielo's Volume Hairspray (its Flexible Hold) on my daughter sometimes and I notice that her flyaways are much neater after using the Shielo brand. The scent is AMAZING! I have also gotten compliments on the scent from people when my hair was dry. I recommend this shampoo to anyone who is looking to stretch out their haircut visits. Your hair stays healthy and smells great.
