So what are the beauty essentials that you need to look perfect all day long? Well I'm Dina Carmen from Stylist.com and I'm going to tell you what to put together for the perfect makeup bag. OK, let's establish our main goal: Do not over-stuff. For the first makeup item, I like to start with a tinted lip gloss. I get a two-for-one: Color and moisture. Compressed powder in a compact can instantly smooth a complexion and freshen an 8-hour-old look. And of course the mirror is a must to check for makeup smudges.

Band-Aids. OK, they might not seem like a beauty essential but cute shoes can cause the not-so-cute blisters. The nail file -- really a must. Broken nails can easily cause a snagged hoe situation. Not pretty. Black eyeliner. Of course for a basic liner during the day, but you can get that smoky eye at night.

Fresh breath. No need for toothbrush. Mint strips are simple and compact. And blotting tissues are also an option for freshening up and blotting shine. A folding hair brush and elastic can help turn your office hair into a flirty night look. Here's one last tip, if you're going out after a work, throw a clutch in your day bag -- it'll be perfect for carrying just lip gloss and compact and you'll be ready to roll.
