Lately, every time I have my hair done, the stylist in my salon keep trying to convince me to cut my shoulder-length brown hair just below my earlobes and to go blond! They said that it would make me look younger. Now, I can see shortening my hair when I get a bit older - but at 41? I have no friz and my hair is full and shinny. Maybe they see something that I don't. Some people think that I am years younger than I look - which isn't bad after raising four children. What do you think? Jenny

My skin under my eyes is particulary sensitive to constant rubbing with other makeup removers. Okay so i have searched for years for the best skincare products and i have finally found three that i think are amazing! First is Neutrogena's new Oil Free Acne Wash for sensitive skin. Its calms redness and is gentler to the skin than the original. It has the same amount of Salicylic acid as the original but the formula is easier on the skin. It cleared my blemishes, got rid of oil and did not leave me with that tight feeling skin you get with most acne face washes. Second product is Picture Porefect from DermaDoctor. This is a godsend, it shrinks pores, retexturizes the skin and reduces hyperpigmentation from old breakouts. It contains powerhouse ingredients like Retinol, Glycolic Acids, Lactic Acid, Azelaic Acid, Green Tea, Willow bark and Aluminum Zirconium Tetra Chlorohydrex which is an astrigent that draws pores closed. This is an amazing product. You can purchase it online at DermaDoctor or Sephora. You can also check out the website on Dermadoctor for articles by the doctor different skin conditions. Last but not least is Retin-a Micro which is the Superman of all ingredients. Its used for acne, hyperpigmentation and wrinkles. Just use conditioner. Most conditioners have low levels of surfactants (the ingredients that do the cleaning in shampoo), so you'll get at least some cleaning without the harshness of shampoo. I do believe that there's even a popular program nowadays ("Curly Girl" or something like that) that advocates only using conditioner for cleaning your hair. Anyways, good luck!

I did try sheer skin as part of a test group reviewing the product - I really liked the results although I found it a little painful. A couple of the other women suffered mild skin rashes but they only lasted a couple of days. I would try it again for the results and have recommended it to friends who dont mind a little pain. If you do get a facial don't be discouraged if you break out at first, because that's what's supposed to happen. I agree with WebDesign that if you have already tried a lot of products and they're not working for you, you should probably see a dermatologist. Staying hydrated is also an important part in combating acne. Make sure you are eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables as well, or at least taking some vitamins, good nutrition can do wonders for the skin.

My team and I have decided to persue a quick beauty concept, where we would adapt a salon format, but remove lengthly processes such as cutting and coloring and only focus on blow-drying, styling, and everyday makeup application. In some ways we are modeling the business of of the nail salon concept, which took manicures out of full service salons and specialized in a quick and efficient service offering that is now available everywhere. Right now we are planning to open 4-5 store locations each in Los Angeles, Austin TX, and NYC (we are aware of some other competition from "blow dry bars" in the city already). We want to position the business as an addition to traditional salons, to be used in between regular salon appointments, and hope to deliver customer value by eliminating appointments, allowing walk-ins, and opening up our operating hours (As we expect women to use the service primarily before work or before going out at night). The price points were currently looking at are based around $20 per hair style, and $5 per makeup application, no service lasting more than a half an hour. We are also considering monthly unlimited packages. I was hoping to get some feedback on whether this would be an attractive opportunity, and would be useful from a consumer standpoint. I personally know that I can spend hours on my hair a week, but never get the same results that I get fresh out of the salon. Does anyone remember this stuff? It was Pepto Bismol pink and came in a jar. I got it from my hair salon back in the 1980's but it was really expensive. It was supposed to restore the PH balance of your hair. I dont know if it was BS or if it really worked. All I know is that it smelled nice and made my hair feel luscious! I've tried to find it online but they dont make it anymore. Does anyone know of something similar?

Has anyone tried this? Does it work? Can you do it at home? This is what I read but it was an advertisement so ... It's more sanitary, healthier, eco-friendlier and gentler on the body. Sugaring has been around since it was used for hair removal in ancient Egypt. (Women were sugared to look pure and virginal when they were presented to men.) Let us introduce you to this modernized method and do a side-by-side comparison with waxing. When you get waxed, a vat of hot wax is used with a tongue depressor to scoop up the steamy substance. For sugaring, the technician uses a ball made of sugar and lemon water. Yep, that's it -- it's even edible. It's not hot -- just lukewarm (believe us, we've been burned during a Brazilian wax and it's NOT pleasant). She spreads it with a gloved hand on the area of skin being sugared and then peels it up. Unlike wax, which breaks hairs, sugaring removes the entire hair -- this means that over time you'll get rid of it forever. Lina, for instance, was able to get rid of her upper leg hair in just four sessions, but her lower legs took more than a year. Results vary depending on your hair, but most people will see their hair disappear with diligent sugaring. Plus, anyone can do it: "I've never had to turn away a customer -- there is no hair texture that cannot be sugared," Lina says. I dont know ... sounds too good to be true...

Kccok58 I am 42 and I am wading in the sea of products to find what is good for my aging skin too. I have an oily t-zone with otherwise dry skin. I find I have to change products as my skin changes even sometimes during certain times of the month. I will try to give you a few tips that I have learned without writing a book! J This is site (and others like it) is probably the best beauty tool you can have! I can research a product before I buy to see if it has worked for others with my same skin type and age. Sephora is good too because if you can find a salesperson about your age (very important), she can give you great advise and you can take a sample of anything and try it. Even if you buy it and not like it you can take it back. Some drugstores such as CVS will take back make up you don�t like also but they don�t have anyone that will give you advice. Oily skin is your skin�s reaction when you strip away your natural oils. Not scrubbing your face until it squeaks and applying moisturizer will actually relieve the oiliness. I have found applying a drop or two of lavender oil to my oily t-zone makes it less oily. As well as using a serum and moisturizer. Large pores are usually a result of congested pores. Even if you don�t have white or blackheads, your pores can still be congested. I understand your need to economize but you have to balance that with what is best for your skin. Sometimes buying something more expensive but that you can use less and actually get results is actually more economical. A very good and cheap microdermabrasion is plain ol� baking soda. You can add as much as you like to your favorite cleanser and it rinses off well too. One thing I have discovered that gets rid of discolored patches is to lightly massage baking soda on to my dry face then lightly blot hydrogen peroxide on with a cotton pad and let set for a minute or two. It will actually foam up on a pimple because it is antibacterial and is cleaning your pore. I do this right before my shower so I can make sure to rinse it off completely. AND ALWAYS WEAR AT LEAST A SPF 15 or higher. (I have found ColorStay Active stays with me all day and doesn�t rub off.) It sounds like you have not really taken care of your skin up to this point so it will take a while to get it back to where you want it. This didn't happen overnight and you will not be able to fix it overnight. So be patient and keep trying new things! Hope this helps!

i think switching shampoos is a good idea if you feel your current product isnt working. you could also stay with your usual shampoo and maybe pre-condition before shampooing or use a deep conditioner after shampooing. my favorite Herbal Essence shampoo & conditioner would be Hello Hydration. I just tried the Totally Twisted conditioner and that seems to give me better results for my hair. I just wish it had the smell of Hello Hydration.
