Great for newbies!
I have always gotten my hair colored in a salon. My roots were showing and I knew I needed to make an appointment, but I just decided I needed a complete change! I picked up two packages of the 5G Medium Golden Brown. All I could think was, please don't turn my hair black! The color turned out very nice. It was a bit darker than the box, and considerably darker than the swatch on their website. However, I really like it. It matches my eyes and color tone very well. My hair is really soft and shiny, and it was soooo easy to apply. I was really nervous and was worried the color would be uneven and it wasn't. One trick I found online was the spray your ends with water before applying the color to your head. The ends are always naturally dryer (mine in particular!) and this prevents too much color depositing on the ends. I am not sure of the fading, but if I have any issues, I will be coming back to update this review. As of now, I am perfectly happy with this color. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is that the Loreal colors tend to be a bit more expensive than other brands, but you can always catch them on sale and/or with a coupon. The color lasts and lasts
I am so glad I tried this product. I've been using L'Oreal Feria for a long time because it's the only at-home color kit I'd found that doesn't give me some wacky color. Unfortunately, Feria fades ... quickly. I dyed my hair with Superior Preference a month ago, and it's still the same color it was on the first day. I also liked that it didn't fry my hair. Pleasant
If you just need an all over color, you can do it yourself with this brand. I found the texture of the dye was perfect because it was cream, it didn't drip or run like many of the other dyes I have tried and found that the color did develop well like other L'Oreal brands I've tried on my black Asian hair. I did enjoy the results. LOVE THE COLOR!
I just got mines today, and I got it in Ultimate Black 1. I already dyed my day the day before and I know that it's bad to dye your hair too often, but I didn't get the full coverage I wanted from the hair brand Olia from Garnier- but that one was great too. The only con for right now is that I had many stains on my forehead and face - yes my fault (my second time coloring it by myself), but it was really hard to remove until I used my Cetaphil bar soap to help me remove with some rubbing of course.
