Too irritating for my skin :(

I really didn't care for this product; I couldn't even finish the tube which is so unusual for me! I like to at least try the product in its entirety before reviewing, but I just couldn't. St. Ives considers this to be one of their more GENTLE exfoliating scrubs. However, the scrubbing "beads" are huge; much too large for the skin. So what St. Ives does is they use these huge beads in a very cream...read morey, oatmeal formula, and don't saturate the formula with the beads. In other words, there are less "scrubbers" in this scrub versus say the Apricot Scrub (which is also way too harsh for skin, as most know nowadays) but the scrubbers are just as big. What they should have done as made this more like the Green Tea scrub, which is more of a "polisher" with smaller scrubbers. The Green Tea scrub has more scrubbers, but the size is much more gentle for skin, yet St. Ives considers the Green Tea to be a deeper exfoliation due to the saturation of scrubbers versus the "base" of the scrub. I hope I am making sense! :) The bottom line is, a polisher is always best and having more "base" than "scrub" but still having large "scrubbers" does not make a scrub more gentle; it is more so the size of the beads or scrubbers that are in the scrub to begin with. I also tried using this as a mask and am not much of a mask person to begin with, so I just ended up tossing it out as I favored the more polishing aspect of the Green Tea. On the plus size, St. Ives is one of the VERY few manufacturers that are not using plastic beads in their scrubs. This is a HUGE plus for me! The plastic beads from soaps, scrubs and toothpaste are harming animals and our water supply.

Great scrub

I love this product. I decided to try it out after seeing that it won a total beauty award for exfoliator. I am glad I did. It gently exfoliates and sloughs off dead skin cells and flakiness. Its not too irritating either, and I find it actually hydrates a little. It smells good too.

When I think of great drugstores scrubs, I think of St. Ives. I like how gentle and hydrating this.

Milky and hydrating

As the subject line states, this facial wash is extremely hydrating and creamy. The bits of oatmeal are not irritating at all for my combination skin. The only con for me is the smell; it smells sort of weird, but I can deal with it. I use it in the shower and it leaves me soft and not dry!
