One of my new favs!
I tried the L'Oreal voluminous mascara some time ago and was so disappointed that I didn't buy any L'Oreal mascaras until recently. I bought this because it was new, the packaging was really pretty, and most importantly because the brush looked interesting. I am so in love with this mascara; I think it might be one of my new favorites! I purchased this in the blackest black color without it bei...read moreng waterproof(I have never had a good experience with waterproof) and brought it home to try it out. Looking at the brush I was excited because it kind of fans out which is what is supposed to give you that "butterfly" look at the end of it. I dipped it into the tube and started applying to my top lashes; make sure you apply it with the fanned part to the outside of your outer lashes or you will not create that butterfly effect and it will probably poke your eyes. I applied coats to both eyes and noticed my outer lashes appeared longer. The brush glides through my lashes easily and doesn't clump them; there is not a foul smell like many mascaras and I do not have to continuously dip the brush to get more mascara; one pump is plenty for each eye. If I remember correctly this mascara was under $15 so it's definitely worth the price and does exactly what it says. When I am going out I apply my Rimmel lash accelerator mascara and put this over it for an oomph that is gorgeous and looks like fake lashes. Very unique brush....
I love how unique the brush is. However it's extremely hard for me to use or deposit even amounts of mascara onto my lashes. I find that this product is super clumpy. That is an immediate no-no for me when it comes to mascaras for me. Butterfly Effect
I tend to really love L'Oreal mascaras, but have lately been using Diorshow. I saw this on sale and decided to grab it to help stretch out the use of my more expensive mascara and honestly, it gives me pretty much the same look as the Diorshow-- long, fluttery, and full. The only difference is that I use an extra coat-- three with two to three with the L'Oreal versus 1-2 with the Dior. I was quite...read more surprised how similar the outcome was as the formulas don't feel very too similar and the brushes are very different. This formula isn't very wet so it holds a curl well. It sets quickly and is buildable so you can get pretty fantastic volume. The bristles work well to keep clumps away. I didn't experience any flaking or smudging. I even had an incident where I got sand or something in my eye and teared up badly and still no smears. And I didn't even buy a waterproof formula. I also love the way it feels on-- it's lightweight and doesn't feel like I'm wearing any product on and removes easily. The only con I can think of: The brush does have an assymetrical shape so there is a right and wrong end to it and if you aren't ambedextric or are not comfortable with having to turn your wrist when applying mascara, it may be problematic for you. Lovely!
I recently bought this on a whim and fell in love with it. It has the plastic bristles that some people hate, but I love the way the applicator glides through my lashes. This applicator has longer, outwardly curved bristles at the end, which are meant to help facilitate that winged butterfly look to your lashes. I apply two coats and there definitely was some noticeable length, shape and "swooping" to my lashes at the outer corners. New Product
I have to admit that this was my first time using a L'Oreal mascara. I usually stick to CoverGirl mascaras. It was time for change though so I decided to try L'Oreal's Voluminous Butterfly mascara. When I applied it I noticed that it fanned out my lashes, almost extending them, making them look longer. It also darkened my lashes, giving them a fuller effect. Catch the Butterfly effect!
After reading numerous glowing reviews in magazines, I purchased this mascara with high hopes, and I'm glad to say I wasn't dissapointed. The formula is unscented and the perfect consistency: not too watery, yet not too thick. I have to say, it does wonders for reaching even the smallest lashes in the corners of my eyes. Awkward brush
I like trying different mascaras and always tend to buy L'oreal mascaras because they work for me. This one I had to try because of the brush. The brush tends to not coat my eyelashes enough, so I do have to use more than one coat.
