I wanted to love it
I snagged a small sample of this out of a magazine (of all places), and honestly I really wanted to love it. The shade was "light/medium" which made me nervous because I have fair skin, but it definitely suited my skin tone perfectly. I don't know if it is one of those smart shade type products (I doubt it, or they'd be advertising that, right?) or if it's just better suited to the fair skin tones...read more than the medium ones (so, medium skin folks beware--this might be too pale for you!). The product is relatively thick coming out of the sample package, which seems to be normal for a BB cream. I loved the amount of coverage it gave me, definitely a heavier coverage than I've seen from some other BB creams, but it didn't look bad or FEEL heavy, which was nice. I think this is supposed to be an anti-acne product. I got three or four uses out of my sample packet and I didn't notice any difference to that end. It seemed to have a light cucumber scent, which I didn't mind, but I do think that's an odd choice for a makeup product. Why does it need to be scented at all? My biggest complaint and the reason I will not be purchasing a full size bottle of this, besides the less than stellar reviews on here, is that even when I wore it under powder my face looked like a shiny, gross oil slick by mid-morning. I have oily skin, so I'm never too surprised when my face is shiny in the middle or end of the day, but with this product it was happening way too early for my liking and that's not a look I want to spend my money on! Thank goodness for that magazine sample because I was going to buy this one when my other BB cream ran out. Prefer the original one.....
I think after many complaints of the original BB cream being too oily, Garnier decided to make a new version for oily/combo skin. I really thought this was going to be better but I guess not. Finally!!!
I've been wanting a BB cream that actually works for my skin, but since I lean more on the oilier side of the spectrum, every time I'd use a BB cream it would turn into an oil slick of ickiness. Then I saw this and YAY! It totally keeps my oil in check and doesn't wear off during the day. I feel like I'm doing my skin justice by wearing this rather than a heavy foundation. Great daily daytime product for oily skin
I use this product kind of a moisturizer + primer + SPF + foundation all-in-one product. You get 2 oz or 60 cc for about 10 USD, so I think it's a good deal especially since you only use a coin sized amount for your entire face. I think it moisturizes pretty well without going overboard and leaving a greasy film. I've not broken out with this product. The product works as a great coverage foundation by itself as well and applies easily with fingers. It controls oil for a while, but I still have to blot my face after 3-4 hours. The only complaint I have about this product is that it tends to leak a bit too easily out of the tube so that if you store it cap down then remove the cap, the product just gushes out. Liked the old version better
This product has a really runny consistency. It pours out like water so easily that it really doesn't need to be in a squeeze tube. It starts dripping out before you even squeeze! This makes a huge mess. Also, unlike the old version this one has a fiddly little twist-off cap which is hard to manage when what you just dispensed is dripping off of the back of your hand as you try to screw it back on...read more. I like the flip top and formula of the old version a lot better. I recognize that this is formulated for oily/combo skin but this stuff really shows up ANY dry patches on your face. It dries VERY quickly and is hard to blend in well before then. I also find that because it's so thin it's hard not to leave any streaks too. I have reasonably oily skin but I couldn't even bring myself to powder my skin after applying it. My skin looked so unnaturally matte already! Like cardboard. And it stayed that way for 6 hours. SIX HOURS. Without a powder. That's unheard of for my skin. This is definitely not what I would call a BB cream. It's a medium coverage liquid foundation in a tube. And, quite a pricey one for the drugstore at $14 a pop. It has a very low SPF and no added skincare benefits. It dries quickly so it is buildable. It did emphasize the lines under my eyes so maybe avoid that area during application with this one. As far as color goes it is just the same as the old kind. If you were light/medium in that you'll be light/medium in this. I really don't like the 'foundation' look. I try to go for a natural barely there base so I did not like this overly matte finish on my skin. Perfect!
Best bb cream I've tried,even better than high end ones. I love that's liquid but has full coverage,looks like your not wearing makeup. The only down side would be the shade options,there's only two. You get a huge amount of product,the price is reasonable. My first BB cream, and I like it a lot!
While it is a bit runny out of the bottle, it gives great coverage. I have very red skin due to rosacea and allergies, and it covers it! I set it with a powder because it's a bit dewy for my taste, but it stays looking pretty good all day long. This is either a hit or miss.....
My mom bought this for her dark skin but it was waaaayyy to light for her. In maybeline I am a 230, in mac nc30-35 and the medium/deep was perfect for my skin tone. The consistency of this product is very runny, almost like water. I open the tube bottom up rather than traditionally in order to avoid wasting product. The silver lining in that issue though, is that a little will take you a long way!...read more I blend this product onto my face with my fingers and I haven't had issues with streaking or difficulties. This is definitely sheer to medium coverage, anything more will make you look pasty. If youre looking for full coverage might as well stick to foundation because BB products (any brand) are not designed for that purpose. What I enjoy about this product is that it seems as if its mineralized. It gives my face a gorgeous sheen, of course I need to be careful with the amount I wear because my skin tends to be oily some days but normal in others. Powder blush blends gorgeously! What is notable is the smell: it smells like alcohol! and looking through the ingredients there are 5 types of alcohols in there, and I'm assuming its because of the purpose this product serves:oily to combo skin perhaps to mattify the skin and "dry out" the excess oil in our complexions. The smell goes away (alcohol evaporates) as you blend, but if your face is dry this product will only dry your out more. I do agree with the previous reviews when they said that this will CLING to dry patches, but any foundation will do as well, so just exfoliate a bit or add a dab of extra moisturizer onto those dry patches and it should be ok. Overall I do like this product, the price is unbeatable and like I stated earlier with the runny consistency you get a lot more than what you paid for since a little goes a long way. Not great for acne prone skin
