UPDATE: 1/17/15: Soft Brown is the perfect match!

1/17/15: I recently pulled out this Maybelline pencil after purchasing an automatic pencil from Milani and was so surprised at how dry the formula is in comparison. I have been wanting to buy another one from Clinique, or even Anastasia, but I just didn't want to shell out the extra cash for it. After looking at several options at the drugstore, I decided to go with this pencil in the Soft Brown. The first day I used it, I received so many compliments! It was a perfect match for my brown base with blonde highlights. I love the spoolie brush on the bottom of the pencil; it allows me to really blend the color in. I agree with some other reviewers that I do wish the pencil was self-sharpening, but I didn't take off points for that; I knew what it was when I bought it. Maybelline does have pencils that are self-sharpening, but I picked this one because I thought the Soft Brown was a better color match than the other colors in Maybelline's other pencil line. I am really glad I picked this. I did try a less expensive non-Maybelline pencil sharpener, and it chewed some of it up badly, so I would recommend the Maybelline sharpener which I now have, and it works really well.

Great Brow Pencil

Minus one star for having to sharpen it and it's plastic that you are sharpening. It does however sharpen easily. I use the auburn color and it works great at matching my (dyed) copper red hair. It applies super easy as it is smooth. It is a bit waxy, but only enough to keep your brows in place and it works great at it. If you get a little heavy handed, it has a brush on the other end that works r...read moreeally well and redistributing the color so it looks more natural and of course combs your brows into place. I have found, using it everyday, that is lasting me quite awhile. I have to sharpen it once a week or so, but I use a light hand - keeping it natural as possible. The price is great - drugstore ranged price and it works great so I don't feel like I have to spend a lot. It also doesn't hurt my feelings at all to repurchase (which I have). I don't see a lot of reds in eyebrow pencils in the drug store either, so I am glad they have this shade. It's easier than powder, because you aren't applying powder, then applying a setting gel. It's all in one and super easy. The only improvement they could make is the packaging. If it was a twist up pencil it would be PERFECT. But then I am not sure where they would put the nifty brush on the other end.

Good Texture and Color Match

I chose the soft brown color and was pleasantly surprised the color was a perfect match for me. Although I wish it weren’t a pencil that had to be sharpened, I found the texture of this pencil to be softer than some of the others, so it didn’t have that stiff pencil feel when applying it. I do wish this product also had a gel at the other end, as I love the idea of a dual ended product, but overall, I could see keeping this product in my makeup arsenal.

works well

I have always used a shadow and angle brush. I decided to try this because i wanted something with better staying power for my island vacation. For the $6.99 price i decided it was cheap enough to try. Well i was pleasantly surprised. It went on smooth and the spoolie on the end blended great. The only downside is i like a point for a sharp tail so sharpening is difficult and my repurchase will be sooner rather than later

Too much wax, not enough color...

The fact that it is waxy is nice, but it doesn't give off enough color in my opinion. I have a scar that goes into my eyebrow and filling it in to be unnoticeable is impossible with this product.

Favorite

I Have very fair skin an to find a penicel to match my honey blonde hair is impossibl. I was so commited to my coastal scents 88pallet for my brows but when i found this product i was in heaven. The light blonde pencil worked stayed in place all day an its my daily favorite!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst brow pencil!

It doesn't sharpen automatically and it does not last you as long as the MAC Eye Brows would. Worst purchase ever!
