Great Pigment Which Lasts Forever!
You will very rarely find me without lip color on my mouth. It was one of the first cosmetics I ever used, after blush, and it made such an extreme positive difference in my appearance that I never venture to the supermarket or the local drugstore without it. My skin is very fair, and my natural lips leave me looking ghost-like. One can always find Tangee's "Color-Changing Lipstick" ($14.99, available at The Vermont Country Store) in my purse because nothing else compares to it. It becomes a flattering, tender pink/mauve on my mouth and nourishes lips, keeping them moist for long hours. (I've tried Chanel, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Tom Ford, Urban Decay, MAC, and every other brand available, but nothing has worked as well.) Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic's "OCC Lip Tar" ($18.00) seemed like a great alternative when I first saw it (though I love Tangee, I still love to experiment with new products), and so I bought it. It comes with a mini lip brush, conveniently packaged in a resealable pouch for travel. "Tar" isn't the appropriate word to describe the texture--it is quite smooth. It glides over lips easily, and just the tiniest amount is needed for coverage. OCC comes in a huge range of shades. There are demure hues such as "Hush" (antique bridal pink) and "Interlace" (the most pale cream peach), but they range to daring, dramatic shades not meant for the shy--like "Stalker" (a real, blue-based blood red) and "Hoochie" (extreme magenta). Before applying, lips should be "prepped" first with OCC's "Tar" in "Clear" or a good lip balm. The brush is necessary for two reasons--it makes for a defined, prettier pout, and it keeps the stain off fingers (I initially swept it on with a finger and had to use makeup remover to completely clear away the color). There is a gentle tinge of peppermint; that's because peppermint in an ingredient included as a natural antibacterial and anti-microbial agent (clever company!). Hemp oil adds moisture, but many women find this just a bit drying. That's easy enough to remedy--follow with a good, non-sticky topcoat. OCC's "Lip Tar" is great; it lasts forever. Don't be surprised if you still find a hint of tint on your mouth after a long day and night out. It is SUPER for those who need long-wearing, beautiful color. — 2 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 8 of 12 people said helpful

Vibrant, concentrated colors
I have the OCC lip tar in the colors Trollop (a coral pink color) and Radiate (a coral red) and I love both. The formula of these is really unique. It comes out like a gloss, except it is so much more concentrated than any gloss you'll find. It is best to apply these with a lip brush because a little goes such a long way, that you'll need to be precise. Thankfully, OCC has included a mini lip brush with each of their lip tars. Like others have said, a tiny dot will cover your entire mouth. I prefer to apply that tiny dot to my hand and dip the brush in that, rather than putting the lip tar directly on the brush. I have more control that way. Even though the formula goes on somewhat glossy, it dries down to a matte finish that lasts a very long time on the lips. This doesn't last as long as a good lip stain does on me, but it lasts at least as well as a good matte lipstick. I just have to reapply after constant coffee drinking in the morning. Like most matte lipsticks, these can be drying. I like applying a lip balm or MAC's prep and prime for lips so my lips don't get too dry or patchy. At $18 a tube, these are just $3 more than a MAC lipstick and each tube should last you much longer considering how concentrated they are and how little you need to touch up. The color range of these is also fantastic. OCC has some of the brightest and deepest shades I have seen! They are so vibrant and beautiful. I can't wait to try a few more. OCC is also a completely vegan/cruelty free brand. Since all of us lipstick lovers are probably eating a fair amount of our lipstick over time, it is great to know that this does not contain nasty animal products. Love! — 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 4 people said helpful

Great, Long-Lasting Colors!
My job keeps me so busy that I rarely have time to use the ladies' room, let alone do touch-ups to makeup. These colorful, matte shades allow me to go from 8:00 in the morning to nearly 5:00 in the afternoon with some tint still left on my mouth. Beware, as they can be drying, so purchase their primer or use your own. — 2 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful
