Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint Reviews

Best Colors, Wear, and Moisture
I laughed out loud when Tarte introduced their LipSurgence⢠Lip Tints. The claim of increasing lips' moisture content by 6000% on a cellular level sounded completely absurd. What tint could do that? I was intrigued by the colors--so gorgeous--and the fact that this contains peppermint oil for a cooling tingle, jojoba seed oil for moisture, and Vitamins C and E to prevent premature signs of aging. So I tried one--and fell completely in love! This is a completely natural product, as are all of Tarte's, free of parabens, sulfates, petro-chemicals, and synthetic dyes and fragrances. They glide on easily for a natural color that lasts all day, along with a truly moistured, hydrated feeling. I was able to get five of them in a bonus kit from Sephora and loved it--I hope they bring this offer back. Meanwhile, I just keep collecting shades! — 5 days, 5 hours agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Best lip stain I've tried
I have the Tarte matte lip tint in shades Lively (a bright fuchsia) and Lucky (a medium/light pink) and I absolutely adore them! I have used lip stains from MAC, Benefit and The Balm, but these moisturizing, yet long lasting crayons really did the trick. They are easy to apply, feel great on my lips and seriously last all day. The other lip stains I have tried either didn't last, didn't have a great color pay off, or they dried my lips like mad. The tarte lip tints do none of the above. I can't say enough great things about these. The matte tints are even vegan to boot! — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 7 of 7 people said helpful

Gorgeous stain
I have this product in Fiery--a very bright red. Not normally the color I would choose (I let my boyfriend decide for me between the two colors I was interested in), but I have come to really love it. At first I was trying to apply it like a normal lipstick, but that definitely does not work with this shade (at least not on me). The color was coming out way too bright and I was terrified to wear it in public. Finally I figured out that I needed to apply it gently, just a tiny bit at a time until I reached an intensity that looked nice and I was comfortable with. And it really does moisturize, in spite of the matte look. It's amazing. If I'm in the mood for more shine, I'll dab on some Benetint lip balm over the top of this, but be warned if you do that the stain loses a lot of its staying power and more frequent re-application will be required. These crayons have a nice scent to them as well. I'd like to eventually get the other color I had my eye on. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 8 of 8 people said helpful

Love the matte look
These are a great stain and finish. I love how different they are from any other lipstains, they are almost velvety to me. I def recommend checking these out! — 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Worst of the finishes
I found that the matte version is the worst of the tarte lipsurgences for me. They feel a bit gritty when worn. I'm not sure I am a fan of the matte look. I have 2 and I can't wear them unless I layer an original lipsurgence over it. I would love for tarte to come out with more finishes and colors. This one just doesn't work for me. — 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 4 people said helpful

Best Lipstain Ever!
I have this in Hope (The full size comes in the Sephora Give Me Some Lip lip sampler set) and I hadn't really looked into it before buying. I assumed it'd be at least somewhat drying, since it's matte, AND it's a lipstain. I was pleasantly surprised, since it's not drying at all! I don't even have to put lip balm under it! It's not exactly moisturizing, but it does feel really good on your lips. It's got a minty taste, scent, and feel, which I personally like. They stay on forever too! I hardly ever have to reapply them, although if you have a lipbalm underneath or a gloss on top, they don't last quite as long. I'd definitely repurchase this when I run out, even though they're 24 dollars a piece (I got the entire lip set for 25 dollars on Sephora's website, and it has around 6 products (2 are full size), so you might want to check that out). I haven't tried out the other finishes so I can't compare them to the matte one, but it's a great product in general! — 7 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

No way.
I wanted to love these, I really did. But they went on weird, unevenly, and were really drying. Kind of the opposite of what is advertised. Plus it broke right away. — 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

Great Stain
One of the best lip stains I've tried. I like the matte finish of this product, and even though the initial color fades within a few hours on me (like most lip products!), I like the faded stained color that is left behind. It could be a little more moisturizing but considering the matte-ness of the product it's not bad. Tarte's LipSurgence Matte is definitely one of my new go to lip products. I'm seriously considering getting one in every color! — 5 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Lucky!
I happened to luck out and get this in my March Birchbox and I am so happy I did! I am in love with this stain! It is so easy to apply and stays on FOREVER. Gorgeous color, amazing staying power, nice matte finish. It would be perfect if it didn't apply a little chalky on bare lips. All you need is a good balm and you're good to go, though. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Replaces my Buxom Gloss
I discovered this last Christmas when they had a box set for sale. I bought the set and fell in love and last week I bought one more. They feel so good on. Not drying like most stains and not sticky like a gloss. I just love them so much! Great for those days you dont want a lipstick but want lasting color on your lips. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 5 people said helpful
