This Will Stay with Me Forever!
Pretty much all cosmetics and beauty products are a temptation to me, but eyeshadows in particular are a great draw, my cosmetic addiction (a great shadow palette can drive me over the edge, especially one with lots of hues!). I’ve been trying to determine the reasoning for that. As an avocation, I draw and paint and am highly attracted to color. It began with mixing crayons as a young girl to combining oil pastels later and moving on to working with watercolors, acrylics, and oil paints. Color makes me crazy! When I see a department store display of shadows, I fear I might actually begin to salivate as I dab the tones on my wrist, blending for unique combinations. Last summer, my husband and I were on our way to an outdoor picnic. It was one of the hottest, most humid days of the year. I was applying makeup in the car as my husband drove. WHAT? I had forgotten eyeshadow? I asked my husband to turn into the next drugstore and perused the display. Among the new items I saw was Revlon's "ColorStay 16-Hour Eyeshadow." Each compact comes with four perfectly coordinated matte and shimmer shades, made to work together and complement each other. I chose the “Moonlit” palette, an assortment of soft golden-kissed tan, a slightly glimmering taupe, the deepest, most velvety chocolate, and a glowing ecru. There is a very easy-to-follow schematic on the back, suggesting just one way you can use the various shades for a smoked-eye look. I was highly impressed at the silky, satiny texture of Revlon’s shadows (Revlon, in general, has been a go-to company for me and does not often let me down). If I were at home I would have worked with my own brushes, but the two-ended applicator included is surprisingly useful and has elongated ends which allow you to work shadow anywhere you like. Even applying along bumpy, jolting country roads, the final look was one I truly liked. I received numerous compliments on my eyes at the picnic, and when I used the ladies’ room later that night, I noted that the color had indeed stayed exactly where I placed it many hours before (and this was WITHOUT primer). What’s a girl to do but return to the drugstore and buy the rest of the color combinations? Perfect Shadows
Yes, I use MAC and Urban Decay, but for the money these quads offer velvety, blendable colors which last a long, long time! I know I can apply for work and still look good at the end of the day.
