I have heard so much about the innovative Nioxin brand that I was absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to try one of their products. I received a bottle of Nioxin Diamax, which is formulated to strengthen hair and increase its fullness. My hair is prone to dryness and breakage, so I am always on the look out for a product that can help me combat my hair's fragile nature and make it strong. When I opened the bottle of the Diamax, I was immediately aware of the scent. While not unpleasant, this product had a very noticeable smell of alcohol. I turned the bottle over to check the ingredient list, and sure enough, alcohol was the first ingredient to be found. While I was at it, I went over the rest of the ingredients, and I was not terribly impressed with what I found. This product contains more fragrance than it does panthenol, which is a very important hair strengthener. Still, I applied this to my hair, which was clean and dried, running it through my strands. I was surprised to find that the texture of the product was not oily at all, but had more of a water consistency. It wasn't runny, but clearly different than most products that I have used. After application, I found that my hair was a good bit smoother, but the product definitely leaves a sticky feeling to hair. The alcohol smell persisted, but the overall fragrance is not unpleasant...it is fresh and clean smelling. To my amazement, though, my hair did appear quite a bit thicker, as though the strands had been fattened up. My hair is pretty thick to start with, but it was really interesting to see that difference in texture. I definitely saw thicker looking hair from using this product...each hair was considerably fatter. All in all, I would say that this product is great for someone who struggles with thin hair, especially if you have flyaways. From what I understand, it is fairly expensive so I don't know that I would purchase it for myself, but it could be worth it to see that "fattening up" effect for thin hair. Smoothing serum with a root booster
About two years ago I noticed an increase in hair left in the brush/comb. I was not very keen on using a hair- thickening product because I thought it would smell bad, make my hair look/feel oily, or be very expensive. The very first thing I noticed about Nioxin DIAMAX Thickening Treatment was that it has a light/pleasant scent. It seems to be a silicone-based formula, yet it does not weigh down my hair. Also, it does not make my hair look/feel greasy. Thanks to the product design, It does not spray too much at once, which means, it allows me to control the amount I want to apply. I work into roots and through ends on my damp hair. Then I massage my scalp. I've been using this for 5 days, therefore, it is too early to know long-term effects. As for the short-term effects, DIAMAX makes my hair a bit more manageable and smooth, and adds body to my straight hair. However, I don't think it has increased the diameter of hair strand. BTW, I tried to use it on my dry hair once, but I felt that it did not distribute evenly, and since I used more, the next day my scalp was a bit itchy. In conclusion, it seems to work better on my towel-dried hair. I don't like the fact that it requires me to use daily, but if it really strengthens my hair, it is worth it. I will have to update this review in a few weeks if I experience a significant difference. Works well
While this is no miracle potion, it works well to give the hair a slightly thicker but definitely healthier appearance. Good results
I have been so impressed with the immediate results of how this makes my hair look & appear thicker that I bought Nioxin shampoo & conditioner! This product makes my hair look & feel thicker, makes it easier to manage & makes it appear healthier. I have only been usin it for about a week to 10 days, so I can't comment about the ling term results, but I'm optimistic that it will reduce the amount of breakage & hair loss I've been experiencing for the past few years. I didn't give this the highest number of stars because of the price it is supposed to be selling for when it's released to salons in January 2012. $50 is a lot to spend on one product, but hopefully I will see a reduction in the amount of hair loss & it will be worth the price. Another plus I forgot to mention is the ease of application. It has a great pump shape that makes it easy to get right to the roots of your hair. I love getting samples from Total Beauty! My hair has been thinning somewhat in the past few years. I was thrilled to get this product to try. I have used it for about 5 weeks now. I applied it as directed and have been rather disappointed. I really did not notice any thickening of the hair at all. The product smells nice, but with an alcohol overtone. Thicker hair
My hair is thick but it breaks more often than I would like and seems to be thinning out over the years. I thought this would be like other products I have tried which feel really sticky, or have a chemically smell, but it had a nice pleasant scent, and the texture wasn't bad either. I apply it to my damp hair like I would with a serum. I like the dispenser which help me get the right amount of product. I noticed a little difference

nioxin diamax with htx
I received this product having never tried a hair thickener/strengthener though my hair tends to be dry/ break and get split ends if I don't deep condition. The first thing I noticed was the scent which was a bit like mint and rubbing alcohol which sounds bad but I did not mind it, but I definitely liked how light and fresh it was. I thought that it would feel heavy and weigh down my hair, but it did not make my hair dirty at all and that was a nice surprise. I've been using this for about a week and have not noticed a change in the thickness of individual hair strands it did make my hair more manageable less frizzy look fuller after I use. Wouldn't use again
I received a full size sample of this product. After using over half of the bottle (to give it a fair chance). I only saw a slight difference in the thickness of of my hair. What I did not like at all was the smell of rubbing alcohol when I used it. It did state that it was flammable which worried me. Great root booster
I bought this at the recommendation of my stylist. I have long, fine but thick hair that tends to flatten at the top and break at the part. The product has a nice, clean scent, almost minty, and I love the cool tingle it leaves on my scalp. I part the top half of my wet hair in four places, and spray twice along each part and once in the back, then gently massage into my scalp. I blow dry as usual, and this product gives me an immediate root boost that lasts all day. The texture is soft, but almost plasticky, which really does make each strand look and feel thicker.
