Maybelline New York Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm Reviews

Maybelline, You Disappoint Me!
How do you know when women like a product? First, there will be a lot of reviews on Total Beauty. A second hint was when I tried to buy it online and it was constantly sold out. It was sold out when I went to my neighborhood drugstores as well. When I finally found it in a nearby city, a $3.99 tube had a giant plastic sensor--the kind you find on clothing in department stores--attached to it! I had nothing but great expectations for Maybelline "Baby Lips." The commercials are alluring. The packaging is cute. I didn't know there were so many options and was mesmerized. Should I choose the clear with in "Quenched?" (great name) or "Peppermint?" No, a color would be a better choice. I purchased my favorite pink, appropriately named "Pink Punch." It has an enjoyable, candy-like subtle scent. The pink is very muted but does give my lips color. I was surprised that there wasn't more shine, but it seemed to be a good product. I like the SPF factor. There was absolutely no tackiness when I rolled it over my pout. I decided to take a much-needed nap while wearing it (my head was throbbing) and lay down for an hour. When I woke up, my lips pretty much peeled right off. I would have expected this from a lip product which promises to exfoliate, but it only lasted a MERE HOUR! It has some good ingredients like Shea Butter and Aloe Leaf Extract, but to keep this in place it has to be continually reapplied. On one site, the claims are that it is a "clinical-strength" lip balm (I think not!). Other claims are that lips will appear 82 percent visibly less dry, be 77 percent better-looking, have an increase of 77 percent in suppleness, and feel 94 percent less rough. I have to question how they come up with these percentages. All in all, I had a nice touch of color and a bit of short-lived softness. I'll keep this and continue to use it--in conjunction with other lip products that perform far better. — 1 month, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

Pass
I'm not convinced of the claims. I picked up the cherry flavor and it reminded me of a more feminized version of Chapstick. I do like the color payoff - it does leave a bit of a tint. It also does leave lips soft and feeling full. I like that it has SPF but you can taste the SPF if you lick your lips. This actually ended up drying out my lips and left me feeling really thirsty. I ended up tossing my tube I disliked it that much. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 8 people said helpful

Great lip balm
I bought this in cherry me and grape. They both leave the lips feeling feeling soft and also with a bit of color. The cherry me gives a wonderful soft hint of red. I love the fact that there is spf in these balms. I definitely want to try pink punch, but target was constantly out of this color grrrr haha. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 7 people said helpful

Love Love Love!!!
I recently did quite a large haul at the drugstore due to the large amount of new and promising products being released. When I saw that these lip balms had finally arrived at my local drugstore I went a bit nuts and bought all 6. These lip balms are steadily vying for my favorite against my beloved EOS lip balms. While these aren't exactly organic they do have SPF and I love that they're tinted without being crazy pigmented. Very smoothing, plumping, and hyrdrating. These also give a nice glossy shine. My fave shades would have to be Cherry Me and Pink Punch as they give that nice "popsicle" lips effect. — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 10 of 17 people said helpful

why SPF...
The clear one in the blue tube (Quenched) is the best one. This is super moisturizing, glides on soft and smooth, and lasts for many hours of protection from dry air. However I can smell slight hint of SPF, which bothers me, especially since I don't need it because I wear this to bed. Maybelline, please make SPF free versions so that I don't have to smell this when falling asleep. The peppermint one is also clear, but the SPF smell was strong and it was also too minty. Of the tinted ones, I like peach kiss the best, for nude/sheer color that is easy to apply without any mirrors, since afterall, these are lip balms. This one is scented lightly like peaches, but I can still smell the sunscreen... But overall, I like it enough to continue using for many years. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 5 people said helpful

Not Long Lasting
I am a lip balm freak; I have to have something on my lips all the time. Some reviewers adore this product, but it just doesn't last. I like the cute packaging, colors and spf, but I have to reapply multiple times in an hour. It leaves my lips soft but not much moisture or shine. Next time i'll pass. — 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 4 people said helpful

Review subject
I tried the Quenched (clear, blue tube), Peppermint (clear, green tube), Pink Punch, Peach Kiss, and Cherry Me flavors. I love that they have SPF and the tint (on the ones that are tinted) is perfect, without being at all overwhelming. Definitely hydrating. When my lips are really dry, using this lip gloss actually makes my lips peel a little bit, which (gross as it sounds), I really like, because then I can go the rest of my day without worrying about how or whether my lips are peeling. My favorite was definitely Quenched, by far. The flavor was perfect, the level of shine is amazing, and I loved the way that the tube looked - definitely a lot different and more feminine than just about everything I've ever seen. The peach kiss was actually a little too bronze for my skin tone and the texture was a little funky, but definitely still super hydrating and fun to use. The pink punch was a great color as well, definitely better for me and not the same cotton candy shade as it is in the tube, which I was scared that it would be. The peppermint was also great; the only reason its not as great as the Quenched flavor, in my opinion, is that, as clean and clear at it is, the flavor is a little too recognizable and simple. I prefer the mystery of Quenched, which smells awesome but a little unrecognizable. Disclosure: I received these products from a bzzagent campaign. — 8 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Pretty Peach Kiss
Nice product. I've seen the commercials and needed a new lip balm and decided to get Peach Kiss. It was far more than just a lip balm ~ it's almost a light lipstick. The color is a soft, matte-like nude shade but goes on smooth and feels ultra-moisturising. The only thing I didn't care for was the slight glitter it had ~ why do companies have to put glitter in everything nowadays?! But it is very peach-scented and flavored, so be aware. I did notice that it seems to "coat" my throat and I could definitely feel the effects every time I swallowed. But my lips were left feeling very soft and looking pretty, smooth and plump with a definite nude color, so I really like this overall. Would buy again. — 5 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful
