Clinique Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30 Reviews

Review subject
I had just started hearing about the BB creams in all of my magazines. I was super excited to finally try one out for the first time. I got a sample of this one from Clinique and thought that maybe my redness reducing foundation from themt might have a run for its money. I couldn't have been more wrong. The consistency was very thick and did not blend well. It seemed to show every imperfection in my skin which I didn't expect. I might give my sample to a friend or family member and see if it could possibly work for them, but I personally wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Very very sad especially from a company as wonderful as Clinique — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 8 of 10 people said helpful

Very Thick and Heavy
This was my first BB cream I attempted to wear and it was a disappointing experience. I went to Sephora and one of the employees tried this cream on me. It was very heavy and very thick and although it was not drying or irritating, I would not purchase it, nor recommend it for anyone. — 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 5 people said helpful

Subpar performance
I am so disappointed with this product. I had been reading about BB creams and really wanted to try one out. The idea of using just one product really appealed to me so I decided to try it out. The color selection is not great at all. They only have a few shades to choose from. I decided to go with a medium shade. The consistency of this is really thick. I know thats how BB creams are supposed to be but this one just seemed tacky like. The coverage was horrible. I've had tinted moisturizers that cover better. I put it on and waited a few minutes for it to set. It never really did. It just kind of sits on your face without soaking in. It left a really unattractive shine. I tried blotting papers but they didn't help. Then I tried to set it with powder and it seemed to look worse. By this time I would have finished my normal face routine, so much for saving time.. I tried it for 3 days. No luck. Just looked like my skin with a shiny residue on it. Then I thought to use it as a primer and the last few days it seems to work much better. I did notice I had a small breakout but I'm not 100% sure it was the BB cream or the Payday bar I had as a snack at work (peanuts make me break out BAD) I suppose I will use it as a primer until I finish it. At least it has SPF 30. Thats the main reason for the 3 stars. I really wished I could have loved it because I have loved a lot of Clinique products but this one is a no-go. I would not recommend to anyone. $42 down the drain. Boo. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 8 of 13 people said helpful

Disappointing
I initially bought the lightest color, OMG I looked like a pasty ghost, so I returned it for the next darkest shade. It's a good match. However, it's very thick and very hard to apply, it doesn't blend well, so it you use too little and want to apply more, you can't blend it, if you use too much--- ugh! You basically have to rewash your face and start over. As noted by another viewer, it settles in every pore! I was going to try to blend it with some moisturizer and see what happens. Basically at this point, to acheive a good look, I need to apply 1) Primer 2) BB cream mixed with some moisturizer 3) mineral powder to set ... What's the point? Buyer beware. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 3 people said helpful

meh
Definitely not one of Clinique's best products. First of all, it is way too thick. I have better luck with it blending it with a moisturizer. Second, it does not have anything in it beneficial for the skin (other than sunscreen). I honestly don't know what they were thinking when they made this. I will try to use it but certainly will never buy this again. — 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Clinique BB cream
I just tried it for the first time this morning and I loved it! The key is to not use too much--use about a pea-sized amount for each part of your face. It really covered up my acne scars! :) — 9 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

It's ok...
This is an OK BB cream (or should I say, tinted moisturizer). There really aren't that many beneficial ingredients, such as antioxidants. But the coverage is good and it layers really well under foundations or concealer. I can't wear this alone though because it is too shiny. I have to dust loose powder over it. I've tried other BB creams that don't appear shiny and have additional, beneficial ingredients....so I probably won't repurchase this one. It's not a bad product, but it's not really worth the price in my humble opinion. Sorry Clinique. — 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Nice, but I wish there were more tones available
This BB cream has UVA/UVB protection, but it also has lots of anti-aging goodness including antioxidant Vitamin E, caffeine, glycrrhetinic acid (to reduced skin irritation), lamanaria saccharina extract (derived from seaweed to reduce oil production), and a hydrating complex that includes trehalose, carboxylic acid, and sodium hyarulonate (all super hydrating ingredients).active Ingredients (sunscreen) are: Octinoxate, Octisalate,Oxybenone, Titanium dioxide and Zinc Oxide. I wanted to give you the exact percentages, but it's not allowed in these reviews. Wear this tinted moisturizing balm on it’s own, or under your favorite foundation, as a makeup primer. The stay-put formula is so long lasting, you should ideally remove it with makeup remover, which means you won’t have to worry about it rubbing off or running off your face in the heat! Another plus is that although there are only three tints, they’re keyed to pink or golden undertones in COLOR 01 (very light, pink undertone); COLOR 02 (very fair to moderately fair – golden undertone) and COLOR 03 (moderately fair to medium – golden undertone). The colors are “forgiving” so everyone with fair to medium skin will find the tints, tempting. But I wish there were a few more color tones to choose from. — 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

I really do not like this product and I have been a Clinique fan since the 90's. It is chalky and not silky at all. Plus, the light shade made me look like I had the flu, I was that white! Poor color choices and thick consistency shoot this one down the drain for me. Garnier is cheaper and silkier! — 1 year agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

I thought it was just me
I am so glad I read these reviews of Clinique's B&B Cream. I tried both shades, the light & the medium. I wish I had read these reviews before I tried it, but the first one I purchased was last year. It just lays on my skin & sticks in every pore. I tried applying with different sponges, a foundation brush & my fingers, to no avail. It just doesn't blend well. I tried with & without primer. No different. I guess I'll next try mixing with my moisturizer. I love tinted moisturizer, especially Laura Mercier, but I need a little more coverage. Oh well. Maybe someone else will read this & save their money. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful
