Totally New Experience
I have never had a significant issue with facial hair, but I am always interested in trying a new product, especially one geared towards beauty, so I wanted to try this one out and review it! First, I really liked the way that it is packaged. It comes with very clear instructions so there's no confusion as to how to apply the product to sensitive facial skin. The instruction packet even contains a photo diagram so there's no way to make a mistake. Second, I was really happy to see the inclusion of the protective balm that you apply pre-removal. I have never seen this feature in other hair removal products, and I appreciated that this one came in a neat stick form that you can apply just like chapstick, rather than some messy, runny oil. The hair removal cream itself is nice. It does not have an offensive odor like so many other hair creams, and it spread easily over my skin. I liked that it was non-irritating as well, since I have sensitive skin and am have to be very careful about which products I choose. I left the cream on for the prescribed 6-8 minutes, then wiped it off with a clean cloth. I finished the process by washing the area where I applied the cream with water and my regular facial cleanser. After using the product, I was surprised and pleased to find that there was no redness on the area of application. My skin was indeed smoother and while it isn't a major beauty issue for me, it was still a difference, and a nice one at that. While I really liked this product a lot, there are a couple of things I would improve. I wish that the cream had some fragrance of some kind-- nothing strong, since it is meant to be applied right under the nose, but just a little touch of perfume would be nice. I would also like to see the price come down. This was a fun product to try, but I can't see myself spending so much money for a product that only affects such a small area. Other than that, I'm glad I tried it and I would recommend it to ladies out there who are embarrassed about facial hair and willing to pay a little more to fix it, because it works well and Olay is a brand I trust. — 1 year, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 38 of 51 people said helpful

Not bad!
You can talk to any woman and they can all tell you nightmare stories of hair removal products that they've used throughout their life. It seems like using such products like "Nair" (oh you remember using that, don't lie) is somewhat of a rite of passage for all women. So needless to say, I was a little nervous about using this product because of how much irritation hair removal creams used to give me. Rather than using it on my upper lip like it is normally for, I tested a small area under my chin, just in case something should go wrong and it heavily irritates me skin. Make sure to read the directions CAREFULLY. You may use the product on your upper lip, chin or jawline, but you should NOT use it anywhere else. Okay, so after applying the balm and the cream via its instructions, I waited about 8 minutes before wiping off the cream from under my chin. I have a couple pesky thicker hairs that are more noticeable, but mostly it's peach fuzz like most women. This product removes the finer hair quite well, but even waiting up to the allotted ten minutes max (normal time 6-8 minutes), it did not remove the thicker couple of hairs I had. I may just have to stick with tweezing those two pesky hairs. It seems a bit inconvenient with how long you do have to wait, so I recommend using this at night rather than in the morning when you are getting ready. I'm in the middle of a breakout, so I will try the product on a much larger area after my skin clears a bit more, now that I know that this product isn't going to cause heavy irritation and redness. I am quite surprised that the product lives up to its name, but mostly that SOMETHING is able to blow past the bad stereotypes of hair removal creams. A big bummer is that you only get up to 12 uses according to the packaging, so it depends how desperate you may be to use this product to determine if you want to shell out the money for it. I'm not quite sure how long hair starts growing back after each application, so I will have to continue using it to see. If it prolongs time of not having to remove facial hair, then I think the product might ultimately be worth it. — 1 year, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 19 of 45 people said helpful

Ready Set Gone!
This two step facial hair removal is absolutely perfect! The first step is using the skin guarding balm which is meant to condition the skin before you use the hair removal cream. The skin guarding balm doesn't have much of a scent, whereas the hair removal cream has also a slight lemony scent. Within 8 minutes, I like to use cotton balls, but you can also use tissues, to remove the cream and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Keep in mind that the this is only for fine to medium hair and most effective on only the chin and jaw area. Be sure to visit olay to determine your facial hair type first! I've only tried out this product on my upper lip (fine hair) and I think it's worked beautifully. — 1 year, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 18 of 31 people said helpful

Really cool product.
Olay’s new Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo has an interesting concept--you use a balm to protect your skin, and then a hair removal cream on top of it. First, you apply a little bit of the balm (it comes in a lipstick type tube) and rub it in for about 20 seconds. Then you apply a thick layer of the cream (it says about a small grape sized amount for your upper lip), wait 6-8 minutes (but not more than 10), wipe it off, and then wash the area with soap and water. I followed the directions exactly and found that it worked perfectly. I felt like it was really easy and very effective. I didn’t have any irritation at all, although my upper lip did feel a little bit numb afterwards. Other than that, my upper lip didn’t have any of the fine peach fuzz that it sometimes gets (this product is meant for use with fine to medium hair), and the skin felt nice and soft. The smell is quite strong though--it definitely smells like a hair remover! And just so you know, it’s recommended that you use ONLY on your upper lip, cheeks, and chin area (no brow area, etc.).The price is a little high (over twenty bucks), especially compared to some other facial hair removal creams you can find at the drugstore, so I’m taking off one star for that. However, I should probably mention that last time I tried a facial hair removal cream, I ended up with chemical burns on my upper lip. Those are NOT cute at all, and difficult to cover up with foundation. It seems that this is one of those times that I got what I paid for... Overall, I’d say Olay’s Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo is a great product due to its efficacy, non-irritating formula, and ease of use. I’m definitely going to use up what I have, and maybe even repurchase it. — 1 year, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 22 of 29 people said helpful

Hair? What hair?
Upon first use I noticed that I had a burning sensation on my upper lip, which didn’t really surprise me. Normally I get the same burning from Nair however unlike Nair it did not leave my skin red or even itchy. I first used this on my leg, to test and see how my skin would react, normally I test products on my arm but for a hair removal cream I would much rather be missing hair on my leg then my arm. I thought it wouldn’t work because it didn’t remove any of the hair from my leg, but I used it on my face any way and I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised at how effective it was. It really was very simple to use even though during my first attempt I put too much of the prepping moisturizer on, I like how the stick is designed it reminds me of an old Lip Smackers push up tube of chap stick (not the ones with the twist bottoms). However when I first used it I thought I had used too little and added more, which interferes with the hair removal process so be careful! The hair removal cream is also shaped like a lip gloss tube which is very helpful since I’m sure we’re all use to using this kind of applicator on our lips it was a smart move by Olay to do the same thing for a product used just above the lip. The directions are pretty much fool proof since you see the girl doing it in the pictures so you know what your result should look like. I feel this product is perfect and will save people a lot of money because the end result is the same or even better then waxing since for me waxing makes my skin red while this did not. I will however say I was disappointed that the directions warn not to use this on the eyebrows, but with the chemicals in this I’m sure it’s for the best. All in all I would have to say I love this product and I hope Olay comes out with more hair removal products. — 1 year, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 22 of 28 people said helpful

easy to use
i like this product because its simple, yet smart. i love the idea of the primer to prevent irritation. when i used the primer, i could feel the actual hair remover cream working on my skin. after i removed the cream, i still had that tingling feeling on my upper lip like i still had the cream on. i actually felt this sensation for two days afterward, which kind of scared me. it removed my hair completely. its been three weeks since i first used it, and my hair still hasn't fully grown back. i am very impressed with this product. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 8 people said helpful

No burn or red bumps
Yes, I have facial hair - the ones around my mouth are especially visible and embarrassing. I've been using facial hair remover for years, and I've tried wax, cream, strips, bleach, electric razor, traditional razor, hair removing wand etc. But I have never found a method/product that is completely pain-free and long lasting. At first I was skeptical, and a bit worried about this 2-step application. However, the shapes of the applicators allowed me to apply evenly, and the waiting-time was no big deal at all since it did not irritate my skin while I was waiting. I think the balm kept my skin from overdrying. I had used some “sensitive” formula hair removing products that caused my skin redness and irritation, but not this Olay Duo. The very first time results were just good, but not fantastic. Some hair (very little) were left untouched. A few days later, I tried again, and then, it removed all the peach fuzz. My skin were smoother and felt well-hydrated too. I think the best part of using this system is that my make-up foundation (both liquid and power formula) goes on even smoother. This is one of the best “at-home” facial removing systems. My only wish was the results are a bit longer-lasting than some of the cheaper hair removers since this duo is a bit more expensive. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 11 of 13 people said helpful

Really Wonderful
This stuff is wonderful. The dirrections are very easy to follow. It doesn't take long (only about 10 min total) and really removes all your unwanted hair. I have super sensitive skin and I had no reaction. Fantastic if you need to do it before going out because no one will be able to see any trace of it. It has a very light pleasant smell as well. Just be careful not to apply too much of the balm or else it won't remove the hair as well. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 24 of 24 people said helpful

Olay facial Hair Removal
Great products for a great price are what I think of when I see the name Olay. The Smooth Finish Hair Removal Duo is an Olay product and the price is decent for use on thinner hair so it’s no exception, I suppose. The two-step process is doable from the privacy of your own home and all you need is a washcloth, a sink and a timer. In less than 10 min. you can be smooth with minimal effort. But then there is the foul scent. Unfortunately, it is NOT fragrance-free but the fragrance isn’t as strong as other products of this nature. You are using it right under your nose for those 8 minutes I admit. But it dissipates. I have pretty thick hair so it probably wasn't as effective as it could have been but on thinner hair it works well at making you smooth without plucking or a razor and it’s a gentle and non-irritating alternative. — 1 year, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Easy Hair Removal
I have never had a huge issue with facial hair, but this product is perfect for the tiny hairs and easy to use. I loved how clear the instructions were and the balm you put on before removal really eases any pain or irritation you might have. The process is simple and easy to follow. After applying the cream, you wait a few minutes and wipe away. My face felt soft and the products really work. I would definitely recommend this to any woman, and it is easy and pain free to use. — 1 year, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 4 people said helpful
