John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Reviews

Applause for John Frieda!
I despise dried-out, frizzy hair. At one time, my hair was lush, full, completely undamaged. I needlessly experimented with color, forever losing my gorgeous natural auburn. In my opinion, using hair dye--with its drying ammonia and peroxide--is a huge mistake unless you need to cover gray. Virgin hair is unparalleled in beauty, with multi-tonal highlights, healthy strands, and sheen. The color affected my hair's cuticle and I needed to condition more regularly. And then, to make a very long and convoluted story short, some medical mistakes left me taking large doses of Prednisone to control pain. What came next? Thinning, lifeless, parched tresses which nothing could seem to mend. The shine was a thing of the past; frizz increased incredibly. My frail hair would break very easily, especially after being compromised by washing. I increased the B Vitamins I take, as well as vitamins in general. I used a great deep conditioner regularly. I switched to the Nioxin System for thinning, chemically-treated hair. It worked as well as could be expected, but every time I went for a trim the stylist would look at me, horrified, and ask, "How did you fry your hair?" I was desperate. A tidbit on AOL about John Frieda's "Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Thermal Protection Formula" caught my eye. Evidently one woman had been trying to grow her hair for years with no success. She used the product regularly and eventually had her lengthy, lush locks. For less than $10.00, what did I have to lose? Frizz and delicate hair, for one! This serum is a powerhouse at shielding your strands against the heat of blow dryers, curling or straightening tools, and UV damage. It extends the life of color and imparts a new radiance. After washing (I've learned to use cooler water because it is less harmful), I towel dry gently. Then I pump a dime-sized amount into my palms and work it through my ends and any particularly dry areas, avoiding roots (it will weigh hair down). If more is needed, I adjust it accordingly. I've also invested in an ionic hair dryer to tame frizz with less brutality than a traditional one. My hair is bouncy and shiny; the fragility is less noticeable. A recent trip to the salon had the stylist's mouth agape, asking what had changed in my routine. "Frizz-Ease" uses Vitamin E, Mineral Oil, and Hydrolyzed Silk to bring about major results. Occasionally, I use it on dry hair to tame fly-away's. My hair is not greasy; it just feels like hair again, healthy hair. This is easily a ten-star product for me! — 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 10 of 12 people said helpful

Outdated
When this first came out on the market, I remember that I used it religiously. The texture was unlike anything else available, and I thought it was pretty good. It provided shine and didn't dry out my dry hair, but it didn't do much to make my hair sleek, even though I followed the directions perfectly. The scent is pleasant, but I hate the packaging, as a good portion of the product goes to waste due to the pump not functioning very well. That being said, I think it is a pretty decent product to use for heat styling protection purposes, but overall, as time has gone by, I believe that there are many products that have outpaced this one on the market today. I wish they would improve the formula of this serum, because it just doesn't seem as good anymore. I will continue to look for a serum that will replace this one in my hair styling product rotation. — 1 year, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 8 people said helpful

winner!
I started using the John Frieda frizz-ease serums when I was just in high school and lived in Florida. Needless to say, there’s a lot of humidity and hard water in Florida. My mom first purchased for me because my hair was coarse but fine so it always looked like a broom and no matter what product or hair iron or hair curler I used my hair always looked terrible five minutes later. The first time I tried this, I was baffled. It completely corrected my hair texture. It was smooth and shiny! And MANAGEABLE! It also helped to keep the style very very well. Even in high humidity. Needless to say this was my favourite product for a very very long time. Since then, I have kept using this but have changed from the strongest to the weakest frizz ease serum. It really does work to protect, add shine, and keep frizz away. I now live in New York city/ New Jersey area and it works just as well here as it did it Florida. It keeps my hair shiny and flat without fly aways and adds a beautiful shine with out being too heavy and adding oiliness to my hair. I do have to agree with some that maybe it is a little outdated (they haven’t changed the formula or packaging since this product first came out) and maybe there are some products that work a little better. For a drug store product that is pretty inexpensive it works leaps and bounds. A little goes a long way and it lasts for a very long time. I definitely recommend anyone to try this since John frieda caters to every hair type. I highy recommend this for people who like to change their hairstyle, I found that it holds style well without frizz. I love this stuff! — 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 6 people said helpful

Extra Strength: W-O-W!
Like the other reviews have stated, I wish they had these serums listed separately. I have the dreaded "in-between" hair; not quite curly, not straight, and more coarse than smooth. This means that it is a struggle to make my hair appear curly or make it appear straight and smooth. I am constantly fighting with it and it is so annoying! Ha. I have used many serums and smoothing balms, even Moroccan Oil, and have found most of them to be ineffective for my hair type. However, this serum coupled with John Frieda Smooth Fixation Creme worked just beautifully! It left my hair soft, shiny and was MUCH easier for me to dry and control. I could tell within the first few minutes of my drying time; I wasn't having to fight to get control of my hair, which often just leaves me exasperated. I would definitely recommend this product and I think it rivals more expensive brands. — 10 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 7 people said helpful

agree with LIttleBunny
I agree with LittleBunny's review. I used this product religiously when it first came out, as it was truly innovative, but there are other products on the market that are much better than this on. I also did not care for the pump, and I purchased the one that was supposed to protect my hair from heat styling, but frankly did not notice much of a difference. It is still a good anti-frizz product at a reasonable price for those who can't afford BioSilk, but I agree that they need to revamp this to keep up with the newer products that are on the market today — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 6 people said helpful

Extra strength version
I use the extra strength version of this serum (why don't they all have their own product pages?) and it is AMAZING! My hair is long, colored, and super frizzy and coarse. I only need a couple dime size amounts of this serum to smooth out all my hair. This serum is very moisturizing and weighs down some of my poof (lol). I would not recommend this to anyone with fine hair or those who only have mild frizz. If that's you, look for something lighter. If you suffer from mega frizz like me, however, you will probably love this!! — 1 year, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 5 people said helpful

John Frieda does it again! (extra strength version)
Yesterday I bought the extra strength serum by John Freida (purple bottle) If I need something new Its very typical of me to go to John Frieda being a blonde doing a lot of styling makes us a match made in heaven. The serum smells delicious and it maks my hair delicious as well! I applied it and even though after the first time my hair feels like silk I just felt I wanted more and more and more and to soak my hair in it for hours! Its so luxurious and you can't beat the price and I have owned at least 20 different brands of serums in my life and this is easily the top. — 1 year, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 9 of 9 people said helpful
