Wella Brilliance Shampoo Reviews

Wella Brilliance
I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try Wella. When I got it, the first thing I noticed was the packaging-- the color and shape were very pleasing, and reminded me of the "glamorous" brands of the late 80s. The scent is pretty generic-- not really floral or heavy, just pleasant, light and clean. The Wella Brilliance shampoo that I tried was formulated for thick, coarse and colored hair, which describes mine perfectly. It's extremely difficult for my hair to retain moisture, so I had high hopes for this shampoo. However, when I looked over the ingredients, I noticed that the formula contained several different sulfate types, which I know have a tendency to dry out hair. Still, I wanted to give it a a try. Since receiving it, I have washed my hair exclusively with Wella for about a week and a half. I cannot say that I am terribly pleased with it, despite my high hopes. While I know that this is considered a high-end brand, I did not think it performed any better than a drugstore product. The shampoo formula itself is pretty watery, and while it does lather well, the consistency of the lather was quite soapy. It rinsed cleanly enough, but my hair still felt sticky. I did not feel that it moisturized my hair very much at all-- if anything, my hair felt a bit stripped. After drying and flat ironing, my hair still had that sticky feeling, but I did notice that it had quite a bit more shine, and a good deal of bounce. SO while it does lives up to its brilliance claim, in that it gave me a good deal of lovely, lustrous shine, I did not find it moisturizing in the least. It behaved more like a clarifying shampoo than one for coarse hair. I will continue to use it whenever my hair needs a good cleaning from product buildup, but I do not think that this would meet my softness and moisturizing needs. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 13 of 24 people said helpful

Can't believe it's professional
The best thing about this brilliance line is it's scent other than that it is no good for my hair, which is thick and coarse. It lathers up well but when rinsing it out I could feel the heaviness rather than a silky smooth feeling. It is loaded with sulfates and parabens which I don't recommend in any product. I didn't notice any significance with it affecting or enhancing my hair color. I would not spend the big $ on this line. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 12 of 33 people said helpful

Read your ingredient labels
I got a very generous sample of the formula for fine color treated hair so I tried it with an open mind. It has a very strong floral fragrance. It seemed to completely clean my hair, make it shiny, and volumize it, but at the expense of drying it out and making my scalp really, really itchy. I tried it both with my normal conditioner and the Wella Brilliance Conditioner for fine hair (which I liked). I proceeded to read the ingredients and was disappointed that it contains sodium lauryl sulfate as its second ingredient (after water) which is a very harsh, irritating, drying cleanser. Sodium LAURETH sulfate is a gentle and good cleanser. It also contains sodium chloride (salt). I spend a lot of money for my stylist to do her magic on my hair and would not continue to use this product on my colored hair. Salt is very drying, damaging, and can strip color. If you live in a cold snowy climate, you know what salt does to roads, walkways, and the paint on your car. If you live near the ocean..well enough said. I am also skeptical about the diamond dust. I am sure it adds shine, but diamond is the hardest material out there, I would be concerned that even though it is ground to a very fine powder, it might have the potential to be abrasive enough to damage my hair. I don't feel this shampoo is appropriate at all for color treated hair. My best beauty advice to anyone is to read the ingredient label on anything that goes in or on your body (or hair) before using it. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 37 of 62 people said helpful

No sodium chloride for this girl
I don't use shampoos with sodium chloride as this is what is responsible for breaking down keratin in hair. — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 4 people said helpful

Shampoo gave life to hair and scalp
I received the three piece sample through the special opportunity given by this site. Since I cut my hair, it is no longer damaged and I decided to not highlight it, which was my original intention in applying for it. So, I am going to discuss other issues where this shampoo had a positive effect for me. My hair is fine, straight , but there is quite a bit of it in the back. I received the one for fine to normal type hair. One problem is that I lack body ,or lift at the roots. I used only a little of this in comparison to other shampoo brands and I was able to get a longer lasting clean, and bounce at the roots. It also was better for my scalp than some others. It does not have a big lather factor. I did not add the conditioner to the roots, but to extend the days between washing, I used a good dry shampoo. It kept up in better condition than most others. The shampoo allowed a shine, and left my hair soft. I do have issues concerning, how one is to get to this brand. I found it on-line, but if it is sold primarily at salons, or exclusive stores, I don't see it being as highly a chased product that it could be. It will be more expensive than I am used to paying, because I usually purchase better name brands (salon type) on sale. Therefore, I would not be purchasing it on my own. So, my rating may have been higher if some of these issues are resolved. If this is not the one for you, it might be worth it to check into other types, that may be available from this brand. — 1 year, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

Wella Brilliance shampoo
I love getting samples from Total Beauty to try! I love the scent of the shampoo, very cherry-like. I have fine, thick hair, colored, and I thought this shampoo cleansed very well. It lathered nicely and rinsed easily. My hair felt soft and clean. I don't think it enhanced my color, but my hair was very shiny afterwards. I would buy this product. — 1 year, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

Not bad!
I've tried the version of this shampoo for coarse hair (there's one for fine hair too) and I was pretty pleased with it. My hair is long, colored and dry so I need a lot of moisture. This shampoo cleaned my hair thoroughly without leaving any residue behind. It also didn't dry my hair out either, which is a plus! I would have rated it higher but it's a little pricey and you can easily find shampoos that work just as well at the drugstore. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
