Surprisingly Mediocre for an Hourglass Product
I've rarely been disappointed by Hourglass Cosmetics. They can be pricey, but I normally find myself happy that I've spent the money I have. Recently I purchased their "Best of Hourglass" set, four products for $59.00 from Sephora. One of the reasons I did so was because I was anxious to try Hourglass mascara. From their totally flattering "Ambient Lighting" powders to their primers, lip gloss...read more, eye shadows, and cheek stain, I have been more than satisfied. The packaging lived up to my expectations--a long, sleek tube with a simple yet sophisticated "Hourglass" in gold in the smoky dark color. The brush is long but not particularly useful; it is a mediocre brush. The claims for this mascara are that "luxurious lashes are merely a swipe away. This multitasking mascara lengthens, lifts, adds volume and clump-free definition, and conditions. The triple-cut signature Hourglass shaped brush enables you to achieve full, defined, reflective, jet-black lashes." I did note that the color, "Onyx," stood out on my lashes. Otherwise, when it comes to volume and length, this was mediocre at best. Lashes did not hold the curl I spent a long time imparting with my new Shu Uemura eyelash curler. I'm surprised at Hourglass; I hope they reformulate this mascara and that it becomes a superior product like so many others.This review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Good if you like the look of not wearing mascara
Which is how it was described to me by someone behind a cosmetics counter after I wondered about this mascara. First, I got it in a sample size as part of Sephora's Lash Stash at Christmas 2011. Some of the samples lasted a really LONG time. So I didn't get to others of them for quite some time. By then, certain ones had dried up. Like Josie Moran, Too Faced Lashgasm and this one. These won'...read moret be high on my list to buy a full size version. And I see another review here where her sample dried up. But then I talked to the sales person and she said this mascara is designed for people who want to wear mascara while looking like they are NOT wearing mascara. The line in general is designed for more mature women (more mature even that 48) or so I've also been told. Anyway, I prefer very long lashes and not the subtle look. So not only do I not like the fact that this dried up, but I would not like the "not wearing mascara" look anyway if it hadn't dried up. If you DO like that look, then this may be the mascara for you. Either way, I've decided I'm saving all the wands of my mascaras from now on for combing out clumps! LOVE LOVE LOVE
I have really long but thin sparse lashes, so finding mascara has always been some what a challenge. I got the hourglass as a sample from my favorite beauty store and it's changed my life.
