Boscia Luminizing Black Mask Reviews

Not Good
This is the worst mask I have ever used. Yes, it's black, but big deal. I followed the instructions on the box, and made sure I put on a thick layer, avoiding the eyebrow and eye areas. It is very sticky, which felt awful. I let it dry for 30 minutes, and it never peeled off. It simply was not going to peel, and I had enough of the product on my face so it should have peeled. I did apply it to clean skin. I ended up having to wash it off, and I did not see any luminizing at all. In fact, I noticed no change. My skin looked the same. I have used other masks where you can actually see the visible changes in your face. Not this one. I do not recommend this. — 8 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 8 people said helpful

Bittersweet experience
The concept seems fun to play with, but this reminds me why I haven't favored peel-off masks in the past. Even though it's a fun color (jet black), it reminds me of when we were kids and how we used to put Elmer's glue on the back of our hands (you know you did that)--except it was FUN to peel off the dried glue in the end. This becomes very tacky very quickly, so you have to get in onto your face and spread it quickly. Wait about 15-20 minutes until it dries, depending on how thick or thin you put it on. Make sure you have washed your face beforehand. Here's the BIGGEST tip, you have to put on a thick layer in order to ensure the easiest way possible of peeling it off once it dries. I learned that the hard way and it took me AGES to peel off tiny bit by bit until I tried again with a thicker layer. It kind of helps to smile or scrunch up your face to peel this off, it makes it much easier. As instructed, make sure you put this on below your orbital bone as it can become quite inconvenient and tender to pick it off with your nail within this area. Also, make sure you follow the instructions and avoid putting it over ANY hair, as this can peel out hair kind of like a mini-wax. So ladies and gentlemen, I CANNOT stress how important it is to make sure that you do not put this near your eyebrows. The decent thing about this mask is that any leftover traces can be washed off with warm water (kind of defeats the purpose of a peel-off mask when it's easier to just wash your face). You may or may not need to exfoliate after using this to make sure you get all the product residue off your skin. Normally I've enjoyed Boscia products but I wasn't a huge fan of this. I've very lucky that I received a large deluxe sample from Sephora because I would not bother spending my money on this. Yes, it does make your skin luminize after using it, but so does a good exfoliation. I'm perfectly happy spending $4 on a facial mask that I can simply wash off, but has always been tried-and-true for me with good results. So honestly, this product isn't for everyone, so you might like it more than I did. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 8 people said helpful

Ridiculously smooth skin!
This Boscia Luminizing Black Mask actually comes in a tube form and I was really uncertain how much I needed to squeeze onto my face in order to be enough to cover my face and form a mask. I dabbed the areas of my face as I would with a moisturizer, mainly the forehead and cheeks before moving on to cover my nose and chin. However, I soon realize that I really wasn't applying enough, and there seems to be a timeframe where if I didn't apply it fast enough, then it would already started to dry up and form the mask and in fact would start to peel away from my face instead of smoothing out into a mask layer. So if there were downside to this process, it would be to find a way to smooth more into a mask layer before drying and peeling. That may just mean I’ll just have to apply more and/or work faster to create the mask. Be sure to apply an even layer to clean, dry face. Be sure to avoid the eye area including eyebrows, hairline and lips! The directions say to leave mask on for 20 minutes or until completely dry. It was starting to get dry for me, and I’m not sure what completely dried meant so I took it off about fifteen minutes in the process. And it’s recommended to use this once or twice a week. I couldn’t really peel this from the edges, because there wasn’t a layer to peel from. But rinsing it with warm waters does miracles, leaving my skin feeling silky smooth! It’s actually pretty awesome. My skin does feel a little stretched but I’m not sure if it’s because I didn’t put use a rich moisturizer afterwards. This product may be a favorite soon, I’ve just got to perfect the mask making process. Otherwise, love the results and how it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth afterwards! — 8 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 8 people said helpful

Doesn't do much
It's basically like black glue that you put on your face and peel off, which peels off the top layer of skin (yes, it is a little bit painful... like peeling a huge band-aid off your face). Maybe my face looked ever so slightly rejuvenated and luminized, but the effect isn't worth the effort. It's quite messy to apply. It's the texture of Elmer's glue, and a very pigmented black, which is difficult to wash off of your hands. You have to apply a VERY THICK layer of the mask to your face (thick enough that it's completely opaque) and then let it dry COMPLETELY before attempting to peel it off. Be sure to avoid any whispy hairs on the sides of your face, your eyebrows, and leave plenty of space around your eyes as well. Otherwise, you're in for some trouble trying to pick that stuff out of your hair! Even doing these things, there was still some leftover mask left on my face, which I had to try and scrape off my face/scrub off with some face wash and baking soda. The little bits of mask will stick to your sink as well. I'd skip this. — 8 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

It smelled fine. The black color for the mask was different than other products out there. It wasn't the easiest mask to pull off — 8 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Just ok for me
This wasn't my favorite mask ever. I like that its black, it made me feel like i was getting a luxurious spa treatment. I also normally really like peel masks, just because I think they are fun to peel off and its nice to not have to rinse off, but I struggled peeling this mask off. My skin did feel smother and more moisturized afterwards though. — 8 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Unique Experience
I think this is an interesting product idea, but it really didn't work for me. After a few minutes the smell of the product (or something else about it) made my eyes start to sting and water - no, I did not put this near my eyes. I think the scent was what affected me. I tried to keep this on as long as possible, but it just didn't work for me. When I removed it, not all of it came off and the black was difficult to remove. This mask will stain your towels, hair, or even clothing so be extremely careful where you put it. It did leave my skin feeling soft and smooth. — 8 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Nice!
I really like this mask! You see results even after only using it once, and it makes my skin more luminous and fresh looking. The color is black so it's easy to see where you are putting it on your face, and I haven't had any issues with it being too thick of peel off. I did take a star off because I noticed a little trouble peeling it off, if it's a heavy layer. — 8 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

interesting concept.
This mask is something else. I have never tried peel off mask. I was really excited about trying out this one because it seemed fun and different. So I washed my face before applying so that it would be as free of impurities as possible. It was interesting, very dark, and very, very sticky. So I put it on my face, avoiding eyes, eyebrows, hair line, etc. I put on a tick layer but I found it hard to apply and it seemed to dry on my fingertips. Okay, so I waited about twenty minutes, after which I proceeded to remove it. It was easy and hard to remove. It was easy to remove from the cheek bones, but so hard to remove from any other parts, leaving little residues here and there all over the face. So it was hard to remover all of it overall. I do not expect to see results after one use, since my face was not really "luminous" BUT it definitely felt softer, fresher and overall cleaner. I like it, though a bit messy, I think it i just a matter of practice to get the hang of it. I would try again, and I would recommend if you have the patience to try it out more than once and not expect it to be perfect the first time. — 8 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Ehh
My boyfriend was sent a full size bottle of this and he was nice enough to share it with me. I had heard great things about this mask and I was drawn to its promises of purifying and brightening. This is a mask that was really fun to do with my boyfriend because it looks funny and was an adventure to peel off. Like others have said...do NOT get this on your eyebrows! Men should watch out if they have facial hair as well. This is a nightmare to remove from hair. I had to learn the hard way. You have to apply a lot of product to get the thick layer you need for peeling off. Considering that the bottle is less than three ounces and costs $34, this is not a good value at all. Immediately following the removal of this mask, my skin looks nice and feels smooth. But the affect doesn't last long. Many other masks have longer lasting affects and make your skin feel better than this. I feel like mostly, this is just peeling off the top layer of my skin. I would much rather spend my money on a good exfoliant and/or a purifying clay mask that does more for my skin and is a better value. — 7 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
