Urban Decay Ink for Eyes Reviews

This product is garbage in cute packaging.
I generally love Urban Decay products, but this one is absolute garbage. Yes, the packaging looks awesome—the peacock design on the front is cool and kind of funky (as with most of Urban Decay's designs), it has space for a handy dual ended sponge applicator and an angled eyeliner brush (a pretty useful tool of decent quality), and even has a mirror in it! However, the mirror is long and slender, which means you have to hold the compact sideways to really see your whole eye closely. I didn't end up using the mirror for this reason. Onto the color: I owned Ink for Eyes in “Empire,” which is a blue-based shade of purple. The texture of this is awful. I had a supposedly brand new package that I received in a giveaway, but it seemed really really dry. I went to my local Sephora to see their tester, and it was exactly the same way. I had seen online swatches of “Empire” that looked creamy, and had assumed that I'd gotten a bad batch, but it seems that that's just how the product is. I swatched all of the other colors as well, and only found one or two of them to be even half decent. It's difficult to get the product onto the brush because it's so hard and balls up whether I use the angled brush or the sponge applicator (I even scraped off the surface of the product, hoping it was softer and creamier underneath—it wasn't). The color balls up when you try to apply it. It is very difficult to get a decent amount of color onto your lids. It also smudges easily and transfers onto my upper lid. Finally, it's SPENDIER than other high end gel/cream liners like MAC, Stila, and Bobbi Brown—but the product is WORSE than anything you'll find at the drugstore! (but in cuter packaging). If you want a purple gel or cream liner, get one of Physicians Formula Creamliner trios (it even comes with a brush), or MAC's Fluidline in Macroviolet. — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Urban Decay Ink for Eyes
I have always prefered a gel type eye liner versus a liquid, and I was thrilled when Urban Decay introduced this line. I love the little package, and the brush is great for me, it really works well. I had no problem applying this, it dried quickly, much quicker than MAC Fliudline and it wore extremely well for me. I had no smudging or smearing after hours of wear. I am really oily, so I always use Urban Decay's Primer Potion, and perhaps that helped keep the Ink For Eyes in place all day. All in all, I love Ink For Eyes. — 3 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Great liner- Awkward packaging
I have this in Demolition which is just a dark matte brown and the product itself is great. I love cream liners, I love Urban Decay, all's good. I do have kind of a hard time working with the long, skinny packaging though. It's kind of hard to hold and get product out without fumbling around but it's really not a huge deal. The peacock design on the lid is really beautiful. It's sad that they discontinued it :( — 7 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Best eyeliner ive ever used
This is the best eyeliner I have used and is definitely worth the price. It is so easy to apply, the brush works great for creating thin lines. It also lasts all day which is great. I love it! — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Super Disappointed
I love Urban Decay and I so wanted to love this. I have oily eyelids but always user UD primer potion in Sin. I loved the initial application of this liner. The brush was great and the liner went on so smooth. But thank goodness I carried this in my purse because two hours later it had completely vanished from my eyes. Gone. Poof. So I reapplied and another two hours later it was gone again. Yuck. Now I normally dont return items but this went back to Sephora the next day. — 1 year, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Ink for Eyes
I wouldn't go as far as calling this ink for eyes, because ink is usually pretty permanent. This stuff is great, however it will smudge a bit by the end of the day. I love the packaging, the texture of the "ink" is great, and the slanted brush tip along with the smudge tip end and prefect for doing any type of eye makeup your going for - smokey eye or the old fashioned wing. It also lasts forever...there is so much prodcut! The only problem with this is the occasional smudging, however I still use it everyday. It is SO easy to apply. — 2 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

not the best
I usually love UD, and after loving UD 24/7 eye liner I decided to try UD Ink for eyes thinking that this would be awesome as well...the packaging is cute, and the colors are good, but the application brush...maybe it was just mine, but it became all frayed and very difficult to apply as a thin line with a defective brush..so much for compact and convenience! It does take longer to apply then the UD 24/7 I have to go hunting for my own brush to apply this product. — 2 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

A fantastic eyeliner
I used to stay away from liquid eyeliners because I never seemed to get the hang of drawing a straight line, but Ink for eyes is soooo easy to use that even my shaky hand can't ruin it :) I use it in brown and at first I thought there wasn't enough pigment in the product but it's just right if you're looking for a subtle and elegant effect. — 2 years, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

A miss for Urban Decay
I love Urban Decay's liners, both liquid and pencil, so I was excited to see this new product especially since the packaging is so cute. The colors are pretty, but the performance really underwhelms. These aren't nearly as pigmented as they ought to be (it can take a few swipes to get a good strong line) and they don't wear nearly as well as I've come to expect from Urban Decay. They don't streak down your face or anything, but they get smudgy after a few hours and fade away before the end of the day. The brush that comes with the product is much better than I was expecting. Nice eyeliner brush, standard thin slanted eyeliner brush that's neither too soft or too firm. Other end has a smudging sponge. I could see people actually using this rather than tossing it out which is what usually seems to happen with applicators that come with product. Overall though this is a bit of a dud. I'll stick with the pencils! — 3 years, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
