Burn, baby, burn!
My skin has either really changed over the years, or I am just becoming more knowledgeable about skincare. I have oily/combination skin, depending on the season, and seborrheic dermatitis which also makes my skin more sensitive. According ...read moreto the directions, it is best used in the morning so I would add it to me moisturizer/sunscreen and it would just burn my skin. Stupid me, I didn't realize this was a "problem" until I started learning more about skin irritants; that is a whole other topic in itself! :) I just thought if it tingled or burned a smidge, it was "working." Uh, NO! If your skin is sensitive, I would opt for another product. However, if it is not, it may be worth it to add. I did notice SLIGHT brightening effect in the 6 short weeks I used it. I would say that a serum would be more convenient; this powder comes with a teeny spoon to retrieve the powder and it can be a big mess, resulting in lost product. However, it is convenient that you can pretty much mix it with any product. I am going to try KIMINSC's suggestion of using a crushed vitamin c pill and see if that is as bothersome. No Brightening Only Irritation..Throwing Out Right Now
I had fantastic results with Dermalogica's Map 15 Regenerator, which is a powder-to-emulsion Vitamin C. I could put Map 15 directly under my eyes with no problems or irritation. When my sample ran out I wanted to purchase the full size product but I could not justify the $85 price for a non-essential skin product. First, the powder gets all over the place. I can see now why Dermalogica is a "powder-to-emulsion". The powder is difficult enough and if it stays a powder, forget it, it's everywhere! Unlike Dermalogica's Map 15, the Philosophy Turbo Booster C burns when it touches my skin. Silly me thought I could "get used to it" but I abandoned the product within 2 weeks. I never saw any change in my skin where with the Dermalogica there were results within the same timeframe. Approximately 6 months later I took the product out again determined to find some use for it (maybe on my hands?). I was disappointed to fine that the Vitamin C had now spoiled. The powder had changed color in spots. We've all read the damage you can do to your skin with spoiled Vitamin C (free radical damage). It's too late to get my money back so straight in the garbage it goes! What a waste of money! I saw no difference
The first problem I had with this, is that it does not mix well with certain products. More importantly, I did not notice any appreciable difference in the appearance of my skin after using this daily for 6 months. Turbo C Powder
I used this for years and after seeing my Dr. she recommend using Vitamin C pills that you can crush, or the liquid Vitamin C found in health food stores works better. I do get better results. philosophy turbo booster C powder
Looking for a vitamic c product that I could include in my daily regimen I decided on this product because: a) it was fairly inexpensive compared to other products out there (some at over $100) b) I read reviews saying it would last a long time c) it was made by philosophy a brand I liked and trusted. So I bought this and added it to my Korres moisturizer I've got to say I got results in maybe le...read moress than a week. My face didn't exactly clear up right away (I have a lot of hyperpigmentation) but it gave me a brighter, fresher, on my way to flawless look. I have been using it for about a month now and I must say I like looking at my skin whenever there is bright light around. Yeah it's looking that good. Some of the cons for not wanting to buy this product was because it seemed kinda of difficult to use but it's not at all. It comes with a little spoon that you dip in and you mix it with your moisturizer. Very easy. I really like this powder. My skin does look more radiant and I am hoping that it helps prevent damage from pollution and such but only time will tell. Its great that it can be added into any moisturizer/serum. It is not very expensive and even though the bottle is small you don't use very much at all so it lasts a long time. It does take some time to get used to using, I don't think I have co...read morempletely mastered the ratio of lotion to powder yet. It is very easy to use too much moisturizer, but you don't need as much as you think to dissolve the powder into. The first two days I used it my skin did get really pink four hours after I applied it (it was the only new product I was using, so it had to be it), and I almost returned it. Zing!
Zing is the best way for me to describe what this does to your skin. It brightens your skin, it makes it feel fresh and youthful.
