A Great Way To See If This Works For You!

Although I don't wear mineral foundation in general, there are times and occasions when it comes in handy. It doesn't give the best coverage possible, it can accentuate pores, and it certainly can be messy. My kit came with a magnificent, portable case and small zippered tote bag to carry already-mixed powder for touch-ups. I can't seem to find it and it was so helpful. With brushes and a step-by-step video, how can you possibly go wrong with this?

I was able to sample this at Ulta.

I bought it and I am very pleased with the coverage. It is light as a feather, but a real powerhouse. Highly recommend.

Bare Minerals Starter Kit

When I received this I was so excited to try it! Unfortunately, I found out that mineral makeup is not for me. My biggest issue with this was it wiped right off. I used a primer and that did not help. I will say the quality was definitely there and if you love mineral products then this is the kit to pick up!

A newly convert

After years having seen and heard about bareMinerals, one day I finally gave in. I was very skeptical. I tried a few drugstore brands mineral powder foundations, but none of them really convinced me. Until I met bareMinerals!! I purchased the 9-piece Get Started Kit because this kit was a much better deal than buying each of them separately. It included two different Original SPF 15 foundations (M...read moreedium, Medium Beige), Warmth, Mineral Veil, 3 brushes, Brush conditioning shampoo, and a DVD. Medium Beige fits to my skin tone. I wish it came with a primer, instead of a DVD or shampoo for brush. Without applying primer, foundation does not do well with my large pores, and it seems to wear off easily. While I became a big fan of Warmth, I did not see/feel much benefits from Mineral Veil. I already wear layers of stuff (a moisturizer, a primer, a base foundation, Warmth are enough for my routine), that's why I did not feel good adding another powder, especially when I did not see any difference before/after. The two main big brushes are a little bit scratchy, but I like the soft and dense concealer brush. Anyhow, I do like using bareMinerals foundation and Warmth particularly during the hot/humid months. Overall, I am satisfied with this starter kit. Having said that, I cannot completely give up on my liquid foundation yet. I switch back and forth between liquid foundation and mineral powder, depending on the weather and my skin condition.

Good if you fit into their color categories

I bought my kit at Sephora and was matched to the medium kit. I figured that this may be my answer since I have a very hard time finding a shade that really matches my skin. I was really disappointed when it did not match my skin like I had thought it would. No matter what I try even after watching the DVD, I never get a shade that is close to my color. Honestly save your money because even the mineral veil doesn't "seal" the minerals onto your skin.

got me hooked

This kit is an excellent introduction to the Bare Minerals line for newbies. It contains everything you need to get a fantastic look, at a fraction of the price you would pay if you bought all of these products separately. The dvd is also a big help in giving tips for application and for creating new looks that are fun. I love Bare Minerals and it is the only foundation that I use, and this kit is a great way to get started.

Highly Disappointed

Despite the hype, this fell short of my expectations. The brush sheds A LOT and is not as high quality as they claim it to be. The foundation doesn't work well with my skin, I don't like the feel or the look of it. I really gave it a chance and applied it 20 different ways, but the bottom line is that it just didn't look good. A lot of people swear by it, but I don't get what the whole fuss was about. It's back to MAC powders for me.

Perfect!

Everything about this kit is perfect. I was worried about the warmth because I am so fair, but blended right, I kid you not, I got a candlelight glow!! The dvd makes everything so easy and between the cost of the brushes and makeup individually it's a great deal!!

My very first mineral makeup experience

I purchased the bare minerals starter kit from Ulta years ago to finally break down and try mineral makeup. At the time it was all the rage and if you didn't own any mineral makeup you were frowned upon. I spent $60 for my starter kit but, it did come with 3 brushes and enough mineral powders for me to get started. I received a concealer, foundation, mineral veil, and blush. I immediately fell in ...read morelove and have been using mineral makeup ever since. I continued buying the bare minerals brand for years and then one day got brave enough to try ELF's versions of the same thing. When you can get 5 things for the price of 1 of bare minerals it's pretty easy to make a decision(even though my decision wasn't only based off of price). I found that ELF's mineral makeup works just as well if not better. And I still have the brushes from my bare minerals starter kit because I took care of them from day one. Remember to always clean your makeup brushes to make them last longer, prevent any yucky bacteria from growing on them and then applying that to your face.

Great basic kit

I am so glad I bought this! I've always been a bit clueless in terms of the proper way to apply makeup, and this kit sort of "ushered" me into face contouring, etc. I am now a devoted bare minerals fan and continue to replenish my set. The beauty bag it comes in is almost worth the price of the kit, alone!
