Yes, it's a little inconvenient to have to buy your shadow pan and case separately. But it does save packaging, and the cases made by Stila are good quality. Nice and sturdy, they protect your product very well. They're fairly affordable, given that you can definitely reuse them many times. I love that these compacts have a HUGE mirror! And I also love how easy it is to pop colors in and out (just stick a paperclip into the back).
