The FHI, in my opinion, is the number one flat iron available in this price range. I love how it doesn't snag hair, has adjustable heat, and most importantly to me, doesn't dry out hair. I wasn't particularly careful with my first one and still got 5 years of use out of it. Salon quality tool---but needs proper care.

I bought my FHI Heat Flat Iron for around $200. For me, I thought it was a LOT of money, but reviews I had read on it had convinced me it was well worth the money, and so far, I haven't been disappointed---after owning mine for nearly 3 years. The only problem is that mine self-adjusts it's heat, and doesn't have any dial where you can regulate the temperature. It gets VERY hot, as this is a salon quality tool. I made the mistake of leaving it on for long periods of time, and not turning it off for hours every day, and this has lead to a slight discoloration on the plastic alongside of the ceramic panels due to the constant heat for prolonged amounts of time. Advice: unplug this immediately when you are done using it. It gets hot within a matter of seconds, so it's not like you're saving any time by leaving it plugged in.
