Almay Smart Shade Concealer Reviews

easy to blend
This is a fantastic concealer. It had medium and buildable coverage and is so lightweight you could use it for foundation. It is long lasting and is easy to blend and it a liquid that turns kind of creamy. ALMAY did a great job with this! — 2 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Pretty good
I bought a set that included a tube of the smart shade foundation and this concealer in coordinating shades and I had great success with both in terms of the color matching technology. Excellent products for those who struggle to find foundation and concealer to match their skin tone! I don't use concealer often, but I don't recall disliking this one--it is light, creamy and blends easily. If I ever decide to start using concealer more regularly I would definitely buy this again. — 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Not The Best
Just bought this to try and tone down my redness and cover the occasional spot. I apply it to the back of my hand and use a small concealer brush to apply and then pat it lightly with my finger to blend. Concealers are problematic for my weirdly olive/copper skintone and I thought that the "change-to-match-my-skintone" option would be perfect. But it actually comes out of the tube as white, which kind of freaked me out a bit. It blended in well, but I'm not sure if it actually changed color or simply absorbed into my skin. My blemishes appeared a bit more subtle, but were still slightly visible. Just not sure about this product yet. Perhaps it's better for those with fair skin. UPDATE: At the end of the tube, which lasted me a long time, it started separating terribly and got these awful black oil lines in it and I had to throw it out. So when you're putting it on, be sure to check the consistency and purity of it to make sure it hasn't changed or gone bad. — 1 week, 6 days agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Not bad, but not great for really dark circles
This concept is a terrific one, especially if you have really light skin (as I do), or are in between shades. It does blend well, and is good for covering acne scars and areas of discoloration. The tube is pretty generous, so it lasts awhile. Coverage is decent, especially if you set it with powder. BUT: if your under-eye circles are really dark, as mine are, it probably won't be enough coverage for you. :( It's most likely due to my super-light skin color, and super-dark circles, so don't let me discourage you from trying this. I think I'm in the minority here, so 8 stars. — 2 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Great concept, but coverage could be a little better
I recently tried the Almay Smart Shade Concealer and it seemed to melt right into my skin and match my skin tone perfectly! It had a nice creamy consistency, too, but I was disappointed the formula wasn't a little THICKER. I think if Almay were to go back to the laboratory and re-work the formula a bit, they will have a definite winner! — 2 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

Blends well. Good for daily use
I ended up buying this concealer in a combo pack with the Smart Shade Foundation just to give it a try. The positives: It's very light and it blends very well with my skin tone and foundation. I am fair with freckles, and it covers my blemishes but keeps my skin looking natural. I've used it occasionally for under my eyes and it works well there. Very light and gentle on the under eye area. The product goes a long way and it's easy to control how much comes out of the tube. The only negative is that it doesn't cover my occasional pimple very well. It handles daily blemishes well, but for the more serious pimple -- not so much. I'll just have to find something else for my occasional acne attacks. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Good for touch-ups only
This is not my regular concealer, but I needed something to throw in my purse for those "oily" or hot, humid days when my makeup tends to migrate. By itself, it does not cover my dark circles nor my acne marks. It's too light (both in color and consistency). However, it's OK for touch-ups (followed by a mineral powder) during the day. — 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Loss of function due to texture
The texture of this product is really easy to blend and light, so much so that it sort of waters the formula down and makes it less effective at covering my dark undereye circles up. However, the tube lasts a long time, it stays in place throughout the day, and the added SPF can be helpful in reducing dark circles caused by melanin buildup if teamed up with a sunscreen. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful
