TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?
I had a terrible time when this was released a few Christmases ago. Everyone was noting the price and assuming that it was meant for new makeup users, generally pre-teens or teenage girls. My friend and I wrote for a beauty site and continued to fight that misconception. These are finely-milled shadows and blushes, which apply and blend most beautifully and wear forever! The lip colors are also of the highest quality. When you've reached the bottom of the pans, you can remove the trays of color and use the case to carry anything else (there are pull-out shelves). My friend and I finally "won" a major victory when the site's owner, an exclusive Chanel/Lancôme/Givenchy user, admitted that she fell in love with the products in this. Whew--I fought long and hard for this! So nice!
I don't have this exact set, but a friend gifted me with a similar set a few months ago. In conversation with her, I had complained that there are so many large makeup sets from various brands, but it's rare to find one that has colors that are actually nice and will look great on anyone (or, at any rate, me--with fair skin and red hair). She remembered that and found me a PERFECT set at Ulta! The larger set is separated into palettes that each have several shadows and a coordinating blush and each one slips into a clear plastic sleeve--making them perfect for travel! I can pick one or two palettes and not need to lug the entire set and they're protected from damage in a makeup bag. A separate plastic tray holds several double ended eye pencils--giving me every color I might ever need on a trip--and two gorgeous, universally flattering lip glosses. I had never tried Ulta brand products before but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality!! The shadows are a bit powdery, but the colors are highly pigmented and when used with an eye primer, they last just as well as some of the more expensive brands I have in my makeup case. I absolutely adore the eye pencils as they are creamy and easy to apply and the colors are gorgeous.
