I have given this mascara plenty of chances to live up to its' promises. Each time I've used it, it always clumps my lashes. The formula is really dry. I actually really do like the way this mascara thickens my lashes. I have pretty short and thin lashes (Asian genes) so I prefer mascaras that actually do help to build lash volume. When I use this mascara it makes my lashes appear fuller, longer and slightly curled. However, this mascara will clump like crazy! I would recommend taking off a bit of the excess before applying it. I got this in Indigo ink as part of the "Master Class Glamour Eyes" kit for brown eyes. It's obviously blue on the brush, but it dries so dark you can't tell if it's blue or black (then again I have black lashes). This went on very evenly and I didn't need to reach for a cotton swab While there was very little thickening, my lashes looked a lot longer. Amazingly, I don't have a smudge or flake. Probably one of the worst mascaras I have ever tried. Clumps really bad, and it doesn't hold up well at all. By the end of the night, black stuff is all over my eye. I have given this a fair shot ~ two weeks with daily application. It's clumpy, it runs...constantly using a sponge applicator to cleanup my raccon eyes and strangely enough...I thin it actually makes my lashes look shorter than other mascaras? Very dissapointing coming from Smashbox and at this price. I got this mascara as a gift and immediately hated it. It goes on thick and clumps my eyelashes together with one stroke. It is hard to work with even if you try to apply it lightly. I've used many different mascaras of different brands and this is one of the worst. This mascara is horrid. Unfortunately, I bought it before I read the reviews; I thought "Hey, its Smashbox it can't be that bad" and at $15 it didn't seem that bad. Boy was I wrong, not only did it make my lashes look SHORTER, bet left them clumped together as well, I also found the consistency to be bizarre. It was almost tar-like, very difficult to remove. The ONLY good thing about it was that it seemed to have a good rich black color. I received this as a free sample from Smashbox. The mascara was super thick when I first opened it and it clumped together on the brush. I thought it had to be a mistake. Maybe it was just too old.
