Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder Reviews

A Powder to LOVE!
In my early twenties, I recall reading an article which consisted of a compilation of beauty tips from much-admired beauties when it came to aging well (they ranged from Greta Garbo to Raquel Welch and Ursula Andress). All said to avoid face powder, as it tends to cake and linger in fine lines and crevices, making them more noticeable and your complexion more haggard-looking. It especially addressed keeping powder away from the eye area. I never forgot that article. I began to note how women would use powder continually throughout the day to keep shine at bay, dating themselves with a cakey, dry, unattractive look. Even when my skin was far more oily, I began to use blotting tissues to rid my complexion of the annoying shine rather than turn to a compact. Make Up For Ever's "HD Microfinish Powder" has changed my mind about powder completely. It is a unique, very finely-milled translucent formulation. It is completely free of talc and composed of mineral silica. It softens the appearance of furrows and disguises pores beautifully, leaving a tender glow. Sephora has a small size for only $16.00, and a little of this powder goes a very long way. This can be used on cleansed skin or over foundation. Make Up For Ever suggests using a kabuki brush, swirling gently in the powder, tapping off any excess product, and then sweeping from the center of the face outward. One of the beautiful aspects is that this CAN be used around eyes to set concealer and keep it in place for a long time or over a blemish which has been disguised. I like to use the sponge made by Beautyblender.® Dampen it slightly and gently pat in a stippling motion rather than dragging the sponge across your face. Dark circles and imperfections disappear, leaving you luminous and flawless. — 2 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Great (update)
For most people (even make up savvy people), they do not know how to use this powder correctly. I admit, I was one of them too. You only need a TINY amount of this powder to cover your entire face. What I LOVE about this is that it's Talc free which Talc can become toxic over time. It's 100 percent silica, but it's NOT going to cause breakouts or won't shimmer. Also, I like that this doesn't completely give you a flat matte finish. It gives you a very natural complexion without oily shine. The BIGGEST tip is to pour a TINY amount into the cap and work your brush into it. If you can see powder globs on the brush, then you're using too much! After learning how to use this powder properly, I have fallen in love with it and it's the perfect powder to touch up throughout the day to remove shine and excess oil. One little jar will last you a very long time, but imagine how long the full size jar is going to last you! Give it a try--and DON'T use too much!!!!! — 1 year, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 12 of 13 people said helpful

MAKE UP FOR EVER HD MICROFINISH POWDER
This is an amazing product! I admit I was a bit skeptical but I can really tell a difference in the way my skin looks after I apply this. I use it as a finishing power and it gives me a soft focus, super blended look. I've had no problems with the product looking white on my skin after I apply either. I have problem skin (I go to a derm on a regular basis) and this has caused no breakouts or problems of anykind. I purchased the smaller size and used it practically everyday for two months and there is still so much left! I love it and can't believe it took me so long to try it. I don't even feel "done" if I don't use it now. Every time I would go into Sephora I would ask " what's the best setting powder for SUPER oily skin" and without fail, each person would recommend this and without fail I would buy something else.... So I finally was over all these products that claimed to control oil ( mac's blot powder drove me to this product) and bought the small $15 dollar size. I'm looking in the mirror right now and I have a face that is free of an oily mess! WOOT WOOT! I put my mu on at 6:30am and it is now almost 11:30, so this is a good sign! I do blot once in the afternoon but it's totally worth it! I really enjoy this. I use it every day over my Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse, and it works perfectly to keep down the inevitable shine. I have VERY oily skin and very little can be done to prevent me from looking like a disco ball at the end of the day, but this certainly helps. Best of all, it's ACTUALLY translucent. Other "translucent" powders usually give a whitish cast, but this one is undetectable. I have the smaller size, but I can't imagine ever running out. I've had this for a month now and haven't made a dent. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 8 of 9 people said helpful

Amazing staying power
I have tried a couple of translucent loose powders in the past but they weren't anything that blew me away. Definitely nothing worth leaving my traditional pressed pigmented powder for. Until this. I messed with it a bit in a Sephora store and was surprised by how finely milled it was. It felt so smooth and nice that I ordered a jar online that same day. I absolutely love this. A little powder goes a long way and it may take some practice to find the right way (and amount) to apply. I pour a bit into the cap and dust a synthetic buffing brush it and apply to my face to set my makeup. With this, my makeup lasts so much longer than before! I have combination skin that has been getting really oily by midday, making my makeup appear blotchy and uneven. This powder has helped my foundation and concealer last all day. I don't have to worry about touching up at all. I'll check my face in the mirror expecting to have to fix something, but I'm always amazed that everything stays in place for so long! This works better than other powders I have been using to set my makeup in the morning and to touch up. The finish it gives is really flattering. It makes my face look smooth and satiny (not matte but not shiny). This powder really does come out translucent so it should work for all skin tones. Since I get dry patches on my face, I often have issues with face makeup gathering on my dry patches, but this powder doesn't do that at all. And since it stops my foundation and concealer from moving, nothing else gets to my dry patches either. The packaging of this is sturdy and the lid lends itself well to swirling your brush in the powder without the inside of the lid coming loose or anything like that. If you are thinking about venturing into translucent loose powder territory, this is worth checking out! — 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Perfect Finish
Being very fair-skinned, it can be very hard to find a powder that is just right for me, apart from having a powder custom blended. I purchased this product on a whim because I liked the description on the packaging. I am very glad I did buy it! It is truly an invisble, sheer and very light feeling powder. It is definitely invisible in any type of lighting, including sunlight. The finish leaves you set and looking flawless. It is even sheer enough to use lightly over top of another face powder to give skin a perfect texture and feel. — 4 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 5 people said helpful

Pretty good with the HD Foundation
This came in a kit with the foundation and I have to say, I really like this setting powder. Of course I was able to really see how it worked in my photo's. It sets my foundation and makes my skin look literally flawless in pictures. And I use very little foundation so in person it looks like I just have powder on. It's equivalent to Mally's poreless finishing powder and they both do the job in looking flawless. I'm not sure how much this is on it's own, but the bottle is a bit small, so you're not able to swirl the brush inside of it. The brush that came with it is Marvelous and I really love how the soft texture and bristles brush against my sensitive skin. I'm thinking though for the price, Mally may be a better buy if you're on a budget. — 7 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Awesome!
This is the best powder I've ever used. It really does give your skin that porcelain doll finish. I wish it lasted longer but then I have very oily skin so I HAVE to use blotting tissues throughout the day. I love the texture and the fact that it doesn't conflict with my foundation. No worries about turning orange midday. — 2 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Love it!
It works wonderfully, it gives a great texture to your skin, as if you were not wearing make up at all, it really is for high definition. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
