good concept, mascara formula needs work

i love the idea of rotating brush (that slowly rotates both clockwise and counter-clockwise), i wasn't too impressed with the mascara itself. fortunately, you can use SpinLash with any mascara! surprisingly, it suggests it on the packaging. so of course, that's what i did. and yes, my lashes were perfectly separated, full... and lush-looking. i loved it! so, mascara aside, SpinLash is a great product to have in your cosmetic tool box. it works great to give that last touch of separation without pulling or tugging on your lashes, like a traditional lash brush might do, or use it with your must-have mascara for the ultimate lash result. For those of us who are a bit geeky while being obsessed with our makeup and skincare routines (ahem… that’s me!), the gal-gadget SpinLash rotating mascara wand may appeal to you. The SpinLash first caught my eye at a local Target store ($14.99), shortly after I was contacted by SpinLash themselves to test their product.... The SpinLash mascara wand is billed to organize your dis-organized lashes. It slowly rotates when the handle button is depressed. SpinLash comes packaged with its own mascara, which I tested twice, but got a few smudges (nothing too bad, but there were a few more than my fave mascara); so I switched to testing the wand with my own mascara. I applied my Mineral Wear mascara and used the SpinLash to comb through my lashes. Once I got the hang of the movement and usage, I had neat, defined lashes. Much better than using a lash comb (which has always seemed to create MORE lumps for me). Like I said, the movement does take some practice, but it really does provide some pretty definition! My drawback: the batteries are not replaceable. They are stated to work for approximately 90 days (recommended length to keep an open mascara before pitching it); after that you’ll need a new unit. I would love to see the company develop a greener, more eco-friendly option by allowing the user to replace batteries and offering replacement heads for the wand itself. Less waste, less packaging. Or possibly a rechargeable unit. July 16, 2008, 9:17 am

    No clumps!

I really like the spin function of the wand. It's great to get the clumps out . However, be warned, the mascara itself is awful. It runs and smears. The beauty of the spinlash is that you can use it with any mascara so I advice throwing out the mascara and just using the wand with your own mascara! It would be a better... value if it didn't come with mascara and the price was lowered because the function of the wand is nice. July 12, 2008, 5:04 pm

You can't replace the battery :(

    by Mimiluv (1 review)
I hate that I paid $14.99 and you can't replace the battery. The mascara did run and swear a bit but I liked using the spinbrush with other mascaras. If they made it so you could change the battery I'd be a satisfied customer. Since they don't, what a waste of money!!! March 22, 2009, 6:46 pm

    Good for separating lashes

    by thestylepage (14 reviews)

I use this product after applying my regular mascara to gently separate and remove excess mascara. It's less intimidating than a steel-toothed eyelash comb, and the brush is fuller than the usually whirlies sold for separating lashes. I haven't tried the mascara cartridge that comes with Spinlash: based on others' reviews..., it's just as well. March 12, 2009, 12:15 pm

    Not Impressed

    by GooberSmoochers (27 reviews)
I won my spin lash in a contest on a beauty website and I thought it was sooo cool, but I was totally wrong!! You have to discard it within 90 days of opening or when the battery is depleted which ever happens first and that is pretty crappy, I'm glad I didn't pay for mine. Also it's too hard to manuver and the mascara itse...lf isn't all that great it goes on too thin. I'm not at all happy with it. October 25, 2008, 8:45 am

    Sit and spin!

    by martinisusan (4 reviews)
This is a fun novelty, but that's about it! I used it for a week to remove clumps from freshly applied mascara, but you can get the same results with a good lash brush. The mascara that comes with the SpinLash is useless garbage. If you have &15.00 to blow on a toy,go for it. But if you think you are getting a useful too...l,forget it. October 14, 2008, 1:45 pm
