I have VERY weird dry-combo skin during the winter (add that on top of having eczema, rosacea and hormonal acne). My skin doesn't absorb well either. Gels are often too light and do not nourish my skin adequately, and creams are often too heavy and make me break out. Gel-creams are either a hit or miss. I was intrigued with this product because it's a gel-cream and it says "Extended Thirst Relief" on the packaging--something I was very interested in because spots on my face can become flakey (especially after a pimple starts to dry up). I needed something that was going to last all day. I like that this absorbs right into my skin. However, after a few minutes, my skin feels a bit too tight and I feel like I have to put on MORE of this stuff (or supplement it with another moisturizer) in order for my skin to feel nourished and comfortable. For $34 a jar, I'm afraid that I'm going to blast my way through this jar too quickly. Also, having an open jar format isn't the most sanitary (and you're more likely to use too much too!) However, with Clinique products, I know it's not going to irritate or break out my skin because it doesn't have all those nasty chemicals that are harsh on sensitive skin. Although this moisturizer isnt my miracle product, it's going to have to be this until I find a better product. I'm not a fan of the Moisture Surge Intense because my skin can't take the silicone-y feeling even though it's supposed to hydrate more. I still prefer the Extended Thirst Relief to the Intense formula. — 4 months ago

As part of the gift with purchase, I was able to try this deluxe sample of Clinique’s moisture surge. This moisture surge extended thirst relief is a great moisturizer that goes on lightweight and feels like you're wearing nothing at all. It also evens out my skin and smoothes out those rough patches. The product has been tested against any sort of allergies and happens to be one hundred percent fragrance free so it really just allows my skin to breathe with this product on with a tint of moisturizer that is not too overwhelming or too little but just right. The instructions imply that this moisturizer can be used whenever, and wherever needed. However, I mainly just use it for my face right after I shower. It works well under and eve over makeup, so it works well as base before applying foundation or such, or even over blush when my skin starts to feel dry there. Lastly, it can also be used as a 5-minute moisturize mask. That is, you can apply a thicker layer all over your skin, allow the product to soak in and really smooth your skin and then wash it off or wipe the excess off. I've always been content with this product and it's very comparable to the Garnier Nutritioniste Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream, which is definitely the cheaper alternative to this product. If price were not an issue, I would definitely recommend trying this product out and see if the results are as great for you as they were for me. The only slight downside is that even though it claims to be 100 percent fragrance free, over time a slight nauseating scent does develop. Regardless, this product is still really light, so once I applied the product, the smell is almost undetectable. — 5 months, 2 weeks ago

I have quite oily skin but in the summer I tend to get dry patches on my face. Originally I was using Clinique's Dramatically DMG which I love but it just wasn't enough to erase my dry patches and the DDML ws to thick for me. This is an absolute miracle because it is so nice and hydrating and my dry patches disapeared after just 2 uses! Also it's oil free which is amazing for the moisturizing that it does. Also I noticed that my skin has been less oily since I started using this which I love. Another great Clinique product has fallen into my hands. — 10 months ago

This reminds me of H2O plus's gel moisturizer. Since it's gel based, it hydrates into skin so fast, faster than the original formula, which used to sit on the skin more. It glides over the skin silky, not sticky like the old formula. It isn't the most moisturizing lotion, but oily skin can use this without getting greasy for hours, and love the light weight feel. — 3 years ago

Love BUT wish they would change the packaging!

This moisturizer is very silky and creamy and is fun to apply! I only use it at night and when I wake up my skin is sooo smooth! I think it would work for anyone with combo skin or dry skin. For those who are super dry, it might not give them enough moisture. Having said that....I hate the packaging! Everyone should beware of jar packaging because it A) doesn't keep the product clean since you have to dip your fingers in it every time you use it, and B) it kills the ingredients! You can have the best product on earth with the best ingredients like antioxidants, but it won't do you any good in a jar because when they are exposed to light and air they lose their quality! I hope Clinique changes the packaging for this product because I love it! Put it in a squeeze tube or something! — 1 year, 7 months ago

Having used the original Moisture Surge for most of my 30s, I was excited to learn that Clnique had reformulated this product. Lakeside this weekend with skin as thirsty as a hungover sailor, I stopped at a department store and bought this. You know how you have comfort smells? Well, this was a comfort feel. Remembering the light, almost fluffy concoction of Moisture Surge, my skin was salivating. After applying, my body relaxed with an "Ahhhh." The literature indicates that the moisture lasts 12 hours. With a half a day at the lake and Moisture Surge under my belt, I checked out the results, and I was delighted to see that my face did seem less parched.
