Bio-Oil PurCellin Oil Reviews

-500 if I could rate it as that!!
I bought this oil and started using it religiously morning and night on my belly area and hips for my stretch marks after I had my baby. I started noticing a rash on my stomach a few days after and blamed it on hormones. I stopped using it after the rash would flare up and itch after so many weeks and six months later have scars from where the bumps healed up!!! Not only did it not help with stretch marks at all, but it ruined my stomach forever. This is the worst product I have ever used and ended up making my belly look worse than before!!! I wish I could return this but I used half the bottle and even though Ulta is amazing about doing returns, I doubt they will believe my story. It's a horrible oil, does not do what it says, and leaves bad rashes!! — 1 month, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 2 people said helpful

Best for the $$$
This product does everything it claims to -- it works best on newer stretch marks, but after continued use it WILL lighten/soften older ones Works better than those 3 or 4 times the price!!! — 4 years, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

It worked
When used every day over a period of at least 3 weeks it really does fade dark scars into a more natural looking appearance so they do blend into skin instead of sticking out. My once horrible scars are now virtually invisible, unless you look up close. But you have to be careful when you put it on that you don't touch it. It does rub off easily. — 2 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 3 people said helpful

Never been more comfortable
I am not sure how they do it but thank you! This product is a little on the expensive side for the amount you get (usually about $18), but worth every cent. Scars are less prominent in color and depth and therefore less noticeable. Isn't that exactly what we are looking for? Be careful since it is oil the product comes out of the jar quickly. With a a top with a small hole, sometimes it needs to be shaken and can get on unwanted items. IT WILL STAIN! I was at the store yesterday though and saw a new generic spray. Since I buy an extra bottle each time, I'm going to wait for a bit but will definitely update with the hopeful ease of application. This is a must buy!! — 1 year, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 19 of 23 people said helpful

Don't bother
he company maintains that it uses a “breakthrough ingredient” known as PurCellin oil. As it turns out, this oil is derived from ducks (it is the substance ducks secrete from their skin to keep their feathers waterproof), but it has absolutely no research proving it affects the skin concerns that Bio-Oil is touted as being able to treat. In fact, PurCellin oil isn’t even included on Bio-Oil’s ingredient list. Instead, you’re applying a mix of mineral oil and emollients to your skin, along with commonplace vitamins and some irritating fragrant plant oils (which is at best confusing and strangely misleading). Several irritating fragrance ingredients are included, too, all of which adds up to an unabashedly poor product that should not be taken seriously because it simply doesn’t make scars and stretch marks less apparent. All this can realistically do (beyond irritating skin) is provide some moisturizing benefit. That can help minimally if your skin is dry, but it won’t change any other aspect of scarring, nor will it improve an uneven skin tone. Of particular concern is the lavender oil, which smells great but causes havoc on skin. Research indicates that components of lavender, specifically linalool, can be cytotoxic, which means that topical application causes skin-cell death (Source: Cell Proliferation, June 2004, pages 221–229). Lavender leaves contain camphor, which is a known skin irritant. Because the fragrance constituents in lavender oil oxidize when exposed to air, lavender oil is a pro-oxidant, and this enhanced oxidation increases its irritancy on skin (Source: Contact Dermatitis, September 2008, pages 143–150). Lavender oil is the most potent form, and even small amounts of it (0.25% or less) are problematic. Although it’s fine as an aromatherapy agent for inhalation or relaxation, it is a must to avoid in skin-care products. Don't bother.
I had some dark dry patches around my waist from scratching. The patches still itched and remained dark. This did not moisturize nor fade the scar. — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

Really work?
I've always wondered if this stuff really worked. I have a c-section scar and slight stretch marks from the baby belly. I have battered legs from years of being a tom boy they are riddled with all sorts of bug bite scars, scratches, and as an adult they have bruises galore! — 2 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Love It!
I love this oil! I use it every morning and night, after washing my face. It doesn't leave my face feeling greasy at all. — 3 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful
