I love the concept of these. A travel-friendly, mess free self tan sounds great. However, I found the application a bit tricky. One towelette for the entire body makes it hard to ration the product properly. Since the color doesn't show up instantly, you won't realize if you are getting an uneven "tan" until it is too late. I am quite pale and these looked a bit orange and the color was definitely uneven. Perhaps someone with a darker complexion would find these more forgiving. Us pale people need a nice fake tan too though! I was lucky to receive a couple of these as a sample in a Birchbox, so thankfully I didn't shell out the money for these. Not so great for me
I got this product in my June Birchbox, which was all about jet setting. I am extremely pale and am always hesitant with any sort of tanning products as I always worry that I will look orange, miss spots or have uneven results. My coworkers all rave about tan towels and I thought this product was similar. However, I only received 2 in my box, and not wanting to waste one on testing a small area, I went for it. MAN was that a mistake. I tried as hard as I could to use it evenly and used one for my whole body. I started with my right arm and it became apparent after it started to show because it was the darkest part of my body. It did not go on evenly and parts of my right arm were very dark so I was spotted, my neck and chest had no color, my left arm had very little and my legs had small but noticeable streaks. Needless to say, I had to wear pants and sweaters for a whole week in 90 degree weather because I was unhappy with how it looked. I tried everything to remove it, rubbing alcohol, exfoliation, lemon juice, you name it. It lasted a little over a week.. which would have been fantastic if it was a nice result but I will not be using anything like this again. I’ve been reading a lot about how to apply things like this, a little too late, but I don’t think I would have had a nice result even after following certain steps, like exfoliating first, because all of the tanning agent seemed to rub off on the first part of my body that I used it on. One towelette somehow evenly tans my entire body and face for four days. It is beyond convinient, just pop one into your gym bag and go! GREAT for the price!
Here I am, your loyal beauty blogging servant. Walking around the streets of Los Angeles with self tanner on one arm and not the other because I’m all about testing performance! Known for “convenient cosmeticsâ€, Comodynes serves up safe-sun with their Self-Tanning Towelettes. Hi, can you say affordable at only $12.99 for 8 towelettes? I have paid double that for 5 of lesser quality from a brand that shall remain nameless for now. The Comodynes towelettes do use that often dreaded DHA ingredient for the development of sun-kissed color, but minus the funky scent. These actually smelled fresh and citrusy. I only noticed the DHA for a moment after it had dried down and it wasn’t horrid at all. A few hours after application, I felt I had achieved believable color that was great for my pasty skin and not too in-your-face. Perfect Color
I adore these towelettes. They are my secret weapon before an event when I feel I need to look my best. I begin by using the towelettes on the larger parts of my body and moving to the smaller parts. I swipe the towelette over my face and neck last to allow for the least amount of color so it looks natural.
