N.Y.C. New York Color Liquid Lip Shine Lipgloss Reviews

EEK!
A dollar or three would seem like an appealing price for a lipgloss doesn't it? With this New York Color lipgloss, it's hardly even worth a quarter, no offense. While it comes in a skinny square tube with a sponge wand, the product was so thick, it feels dreadful pulling it out and even worse being applied as my lips get tucked around and peeling some skin to make my lips appear chapped, it was just a throbbing, excruciating process for a makeup application. It is so thick and sticky, it can be compared to icing or frosting on a homemade cake, gah! The scent isn't exactly pleasing on these imposters either, I've had other drugstore lipglosses smell better than this sucker. Toss it out! — 5 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful

The Worst
This is by far the worst lip product ever. The taste is so horrible, and it actually gave me blisters. I cant even wear this product for ten minutes. And even with the allergic reaction behind, the consistency of the gloss is too gooey, it feels like cooking grease. — 7 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Yucky
It's not the worst lip gloss I've ever used, but it's pretty close. The colors don't show up badly, but the gloss itself has such a bad texture that you wouldn't want to wear it: it's really thick and sticky as tape and smells weird to boot. It certainly isn't long-lasting & won't give you a high shine finish. This would be appropriate for tweens trying out make-up for the first time. — 1 year, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Very low quality
In the case of this lipgloss, the price tag definitely coordinates with the quality. I found that the thickness of this lip gloss to be overwhelming as well as the horrid taste and smell. — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

beautiful color and shine -- but TOO sticky
This was an impulse buy, and I wish I’d read the reviews here first. First, the pros: the price is low (just over $3) and the color (I got Nude York City) is exquisite, as is the shine. The cons: this stuff is as sticky as flypaper. If I didn't have short hair, I don’t think I could wear it at all due to the stickiness factor. Plus, it feels annoyingly heavy on my lips, and has a cloying odor. I will probably wear it every now and then when I want a beautiful glossy nude lip – but I will never buy it again. — 3 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Affordable
NYC products are one of my favorite drugstore brands, simply because they are super affordable yet are of great quality! So when I received this Lipshine in my VoxBox I was very excited! The Lipshine that I received is a very nude color compared to my natural lip color (in fact the color name is #582 Nude York City), with a slight tint of glitter/shimmer. The name “lipshine” is right on simply because the product is super shiny and glossy! All you need to apply is a minimal amount of product to achieve that perfect shine. What I love about this product is that it is not sticky at all like some other lip glosses that I’ve tried. Although it does apply very smoothly, what I did notice is that if you do pack on too much product then yes it will feel sticky, so keep that in mind. The wand is a bit different on this lipshine than any other gloss; it actually slightly moves/bends which I love because it allows for better gloss application. When the wand moves a bit it allows me to apply an even amount of shine with minimal effort! The lipshine has no taste/flavor to it; however it does have a slight sweet scent, which I enjoy very much! Overall this is a great product, not only is it affordable (retails at $2.49 at local drugstores like Rite Aid, and Target) but the quality is great! This NYC Liquid Lipshine would be perfect on its own or above your favorite lipstick! I definitely recommend this product to anyone who is on a budget or simply wants a combination of lipshines without having to fork over a ton of money! — 4 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

This is a good product (considering the cost)
I really like the formula on these. They have gone into my daily aresonal. There are pleanty of colors and at $2-4 (depending on where you shop) per gloss it is afordable to get a few of the. I typically lean toward the higher end products like Stila, Urban Decay, and Smashbox, but this was NEARLY as good, and considering it is 1/6th the price of those and I'm inclined to compare directly to those, I'd say its pretty good. It was not sticky. It was not clumpy. It was just smooth and even a little nourishing. Most of my glosses tend to dry out my lips, but even in this harsh dry winter my lips feel pretty good. I have to re-apply these every two hours or so, which is pretty typical for me, I tend to rub my lips alot. My very favorite color is the "Honey on the Hudson". It looks a lot like a darker version of my own lips (with shimmer!). I saw some of the reviews here say that they are not the best, but they also look like a couple years old, so I'm thinking they may have re-formulated the product. I love it, and even if you don't the cost won't break the bank to try it. — 1 year, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Sad to see this go!
I owned one in pink sand and I truly loved the color and texture. The newer glosses taste terrible and are kinda sticky. — 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Terrible lip gloss.
This lip gloss is terrible it doesn't do anything for your lips. It won't moisturize your lips at all, it doesn't have good pigmentation, and it doesn't last at all. I would say that this is just an all around bad product. It just feels like a pile of sticky gloop and the colours look and feel terrible. I have heard that they had reworked the glosses and that they are better but for how bad they were before I would rather just stick the glosses I use now and not risk being so severely disappointed again. I really think that you are just way better off spending a little more money to get something that will actually give you the results that you want. — 4 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
