Mario Badescu Skin Care Drying Lotion Reviews

Badescu WORKS for Breakouts!
Adult acne is so frustrating, so annoying! I think it's worse than when one is in their teens or early twenties. It is normal to see a young person with blemishes, but once you pass the age of forty it is rather unusual and certainly embarrassing. For the most part, my skin was quite good in high school, but I had cyclical and occasional breakouts when my routine changed. I knew how to deal with them: I pulled out my Neutrogena "Facial Cleansing Bar for Acne-Prone Skin" to gently but thoroughly deep-clean skin. I would follow with Bonne Bell's amazing "Ten-O-Six" astringent. For tough blemishes, I used Benzoyl Peroxide. Usually by morning or the next day the defect(s) would be on their way out. I would use a mask or an exfoliator to rid my complexion of any dead skin which was left behind. Skin at that age is much more resilient, far more able to handle heavy-duty products. (Keep in mind that Benzoyl Peroxide, while highly effective, will actually bleach the color out of clothing!) But breakouts at an older age are not so easy to control--Benzoyl Peroxide is much too harsh for my skin now and would leave me with horrific, scaling skin. Enter Mario Badescu's revered "Skin Care Drying Lotion." It works directly on blemishes without over-drying and causing havoc. It contains Salicylic Acid (basically just aspirin), Calamine Lotion to comfort, Camphor, Zinc Oxide (an agent present in diaper-rash ointments to dry skin with tenderness) and Glycerin. To achieve best results, wash the affected area(s) and apply moisturizer as usual. Do NOT shake the bottle to mix the pink sediment with the rest of the product. Using fresh Q-tips, dot only the pink substance on blemishes and allow to dry. Keep on overnight and remove by washing in the morning. Blind pimples will disappear; those which have already come to a head will diminish as well, without affecting your entire complexion. This works well for acne on your back and décolleté. It is also highly effective as a treatment for mosquito bites. — 1 month, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

What's all the hype?
I got this product after I had seen it raved about on youtube and in magazines. Everyone made it sound like this miracle product that would completely dry and clear up your pimples overnight. For me though, it acted just like any other spot treatment would. It would dry up my pimples just a tiny bit, and that's it. For me this was not as amazing as everyone said, and I am not sure if I would even repurchase this. One of the reasons I think that people love this so much is that it does feel like it is doing something because it kind of makes your breakout sting a little bit. But overall this was just an ok spot treatment for me, and definitely not worth all of the hype. — 6 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 2 people said helpful

Awesome
This pimple lotion is great. But it's not perfect. It's nice in the sense that it does work but it chooses when it wants to work. For example, say I have five zits on my face (gross I know) and I dab this lotion on them. Three of them will reduce in size and kinda scab up and go away, and one, nothing happens, and the last, a whitehead surfaces. So all in all, I think it works nice. — 1 year, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 5 people said helpful

This stuff ROCKS
I have tried so many acne products that I cringe when I think how much money and time I have spent. I first tried their drying lotion, which is also amazing, and then I got the buffering lotion which is fantastic as well. Even though I only have occasional breakouts, I tend to get cystic and regular pimples when they occur. I finally purchased this during my last breakout, and I am overjoyed with how well it works. Yes it stinks, yes you end up with pink spots on your face at bedtime, but it's a great trade off for waking up with your pimples GONE. I use this in tandem with the drying and buffering lotions, and my breakouts are gone within two days tops. Where were these products when I was in high school?? — 3 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 6 people said helpful

super drying.
I used this years ago when I had acne and yes it dries up blemishes but the smell is overwhelming. It doesn't have the best ingredients either. My acne didn't improve b/c of it but it dried my skin up. I would rather try something natural if I have issues. — 2 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 2 people said helpful

It worked!
I'm in the process of testing several of Mario's products out for a review, but I had to jump on here and sing the praises of the Drying Lotion. This has single handedly eliminated blackheads and a few whiteheads that have popped up over the past week. I saw results in one night! For the larger ones, it took 2 nights. I don't mind going to bed looking like I have the chicken pox if it really works! It is a tad drying to the skin, make sure you hydrate! — 4 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Mario Madness
I do not get the passion over this stuff. I guess it either works great or not much if at all. It did not dry up my pimples-especially dissapointing when it promises to do so overnight. I was SO excited about it when I bought it but let down by the performance. Plus very messy. Will not try it again — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

It does what it supose to do.
I purchased his item when my teenage acne came back in college. I mean.. It was bad. I still don't know why it happened but I was desperate to try something!!! I saw this product and had to purchase it. It was a little pricey but I was that desperate. The smell isn't pleasant and it's hard to wash off in the morning. I also feel like the smell is still there even when I wash it off in the morning. It seems to work and reduce the size of my pimples but it does not work over night. I would say in a couple of days. It is a small bottle but it lasts years. I purchased this a year ago but I still have a lot left. Not sure if I would repurchase tho. — 8 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

Not bad
This product is pretty great however I can't give it a 10 because it is not a miracle worker. As a previous reviewer mentioned it doesn't always work on every pimple and it doesn't always work immediately over night. But in all honesty we I don't know if any product will ever exist that eliminates all problems. I didn't go through all the reviews here but just some advice for people that I was given. This product is to treat white heads not cystic acne and also make sure not to shake the product just leave it be in its sedimentary state. I look like a fool going to sleep with pink dots all over my face but I'm just taking advantage of looking silly before I have to share my bed with a husband full time. — 10 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

Great for zapping on the spot zits
Do not use this all over your face, it is meant for a pimple that flares up out of nowhere. If you use this before you go to bed (and leave it on over night) it will dramatically be smaller/less noticable. Yes it is drying (uhm, hence the name) so you might get dry skin around the area, but nothing that a little moisturizer can't fix. I'll take a dry spot over a red irritated zit! — 11 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
