Lush American Cream Reviews

Not silky nor detangling
This conditioner is super light in conditioning (for a "level two") and leaves your hair with slight residue of oiliness, which is I guess their idea of "conditioning". My hair sucks up the cream, so I have to use a lot, and yet, it doesn't detangle or give good wet comb. Also, the oils seem to go rancid after a while, because mine didn't smell too great, even after rinsing out and drying, the nasty smell was there. Don't waste your money on this one. There are much better ones for 1/10 of it's price. — 3 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Fine hair's bff
People with colored hair may want to avoid this conditioner; it kicked my color down a notch after just one use. But! I balanced my diminished color against the otherwise AMAZING results of this conditioner, and decided to keep using it. Never has my fine, dry, limp, generally blah hair looked or felt so good. I literally cannot keep my hands away from my scalp and my eyes away from a mirror. After washing with LUSH's Ultimate Shine solid shampoo, conditioning with this, and letting my pixie cut air dry, my hair was shiny, volumized, and full of texture. When I went to work, everyone kept complimenting my "new haicut," even though the only thing different was my conditioner. — 4 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

More like American Dream
I can't get over the change my hair has undergone since using this product. My thick and textured waves are now smooth and defined and smell darn near delicious. I am exceptionally picky on my hair products, trying scores of both high end and drug store shampoos and conditioners and I have to say that this product totally delivers. It detangles my very long locks and leaves them light and shiny. My waves actually bounce instead of frizz. And I can't stop smelling my hair. Everytime it passes in front of my nose I smile. The only reason I didn't give American Cream a 10 is because of the high sticker price. But alas, I still shell out the cash everytime my bottle empties. I don't know what I would do if Lush discontinued this product! Amazing! — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Great for certain heads
When my hair was long, this did not provide enough conditioning. Having recently chopped it to chin length, I revisited it. It is now fantastic. Detangles well, doesn't leave a residue, and the smell-as noted by other reviewers is divine. Vanilla, strawberries, and a hint of something herbal. I love it. It makes your hair soft rather than silicone slick, which took some getting used to, but my hair looks and smells great. Worth the money if you have shorter or finer hair. — 2 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Annoint Yourself With Vanilla Milkshake! Mmmm!
This is by far my favorite Lush conditioner! Not only is the smell absolutely divine, it works wonders on my curly, curly hair! Unlike most curly hair, mine is quite fine and is easily weighed down by most conditioners specifically designed for curly hair. This makes American Cream perfectly suited to my hair, since it's light enough that it doesn't weigh down my curls, yet it conditions enough to detangle, as well as leave my hair looking shiny and smelling positively delightful! I like to combine this conditioner with either Big or Ibiza Party shampoos. And just for the sake of changing things up from time to time, I'll occasionally switch this one out with Coolaulin conditioner - another lovely light conditioner that works wonders on my ringlets! As for the other reviewers trying to scare you about the SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) in Lush's products, please don't buy into the scare tactics! Among many, many others, Snopes has already thoroughly debunked this as a myth invented almost surely to drive up sales of alternative quote/unquote "natural" shampoos. There's nothing in this conditioner that's going to give you cancer, for goodness sake! If you doubt me, just do a quick search on Snopes for "Shampoo Sham" and read all about the truth on SLS for yourself from a non-biased third party who has absolutely nothing to lose or gain in shampoo sales. As they say on Snopes, the worst thing that could possibly happen is that you might get a bit of scalp irritation... if you leave it on your head for hours on end without rinsing it out! Or if you purposefully drank this like the milkshake it smells like, it might give you a case of the runs. But certainly nothing bad is going to happen if you use it like the conditioner it's meant to be. I'm sure all of you have more sense than to do something silly like drink your conditioner! :) — 3 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Hmm...okay.
This isn't the best. I have to use ALOT to make my hair soft and to detangle it. For the conditioning properties, it's okay. BUT! IT SMELLS SO GOOD!! It has a heavenly (not to childish) strawberry and vanilla scent that lasts. Also, when my hair dries it leaves it very frizz-free and soft. — 3 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Not for me
I got a sample of this. It is way too conditioning for my fine, thin hair. — 3 years, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

great for fine virgin hair
This stuff smells heavenly...wow. My husband actually commented that my hair smelled good, and he never notices what my hair smells like. This isn't the most moisturizing conditioner I've ever used, but it's fine for most days as long as I alternate with a deep conditioner. — 4 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Smell is heavenly, stays in hair, rinses out well.
This is a great, light weight conditioner for fine hair. Rinses out completely leaving hair conditioned and smelling wonderful. — 4 years, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Can Scent Alone Be Enough??
I did love the scent and how it stayed with my hair, I could smell it every time my hair moved in a light and good way. I mix it with a more moisturizing conditioner since it wasn't nearly enough though, but it was ok. Maybe for fine hair without a lot of needs. — 4 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
