Essie Nail Polish Reviews

Worth every penny!
LipglossandSpandex (487 reviews)I used to wonder why people would shell out $8 for a nail polish! After awhile, they get thick and gunky and you have to throw them away, and I like too many colors to invest in nail polish like that. Well, that was until I picked up some Essie and some OPI. While I never pay full price for them (I get them on sale or on clearance), they'd still be worth the $8 if it were a color you wore often. The quality of the nail polish is much better in general than that of drugstore nail polishes. They don't chip as soon as drugstore polishes do. I own Body Language (a pale pale gray that has just a touch of light pink in it), and Infatuation (Barbie pink) and love both of them. — 2 years, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 9 of 11 people said helpful

Really tops
CaroleVonAllten (1154 reviews)I have always been an Opi girl, but I tried Essie and love it. Tons of colors, does not chip, and a good orice. — 3 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 5 people said helpful

Essie is very good nail polish...
powerwoman033 (509 reviews)I like that Essie readily available at most drug stores. Essie has gorgeous colors and goes on well. My only complaint is, it chips sooner than OPI polish. Overall, a great, accessible brand for a great value as well. — 2 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

love!
kenya (498 reviews)Essie is the only brand my cousin uses and I dont blame her. these polishes are amazing quality. i used this once for a matte finish and it was the coolest thing i've ever seen on my nails! the colors are very pigmented and veryyy opaque. the lasting power is great too, since it lasted me more than 4 days. i love the variety of colors! its one of the best out there! — 1 year, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 9 of 9 people said helpful

Great polish.
MissPurple (581 reviews)I heart the Essie line. The colors are great, and it's a quality product. I did pay around $8.00 for one bottle, which I find a little spendy. But, overall this is a great buy! — 1 year agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 3 people said helpful

Not good!
aly7 (385 reviews)I have always been a China Glaze and OPI girl, so Essie never really crossed my mind untill I saw Mint Candy Apple which is a light, mint green cream. I bought it at full price(around $8) and the minute I tried it- I wanted to go return it. The texture is SO THICK it seriously took 2 hours for Mint Candy Apple to dry and then it neeed another coat. I don't know if it is just the color, or the polish formula but I HATE IT. I guess I am back to my China GLaze and OPI! — 10 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 4 people said helpful

Good, but not great
TheLacqueredLady (588 reviews)Essie polishes are good overall. They specialize in classic cream colors. I have only tried a few of their polishes and found that with my body chemistry they do not wear as well as other higher end polish brands. Also, I found the brush more difficult to manipulate. — 8 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Nice selection of neutral colors
luckybetty (880 reviews)I have a few bottles of Essie, I usually don't choose pink nail color, but I was fascinated by this name, Splash of Grenadine. The color is not girly pink, it's more like creamy pink blended with purple/lavender color. It applies and streaks smoothly, and I use two coats. One coat of Essie is a bit too sheer for me. After the two coats, the color is pretty, slightly shimmery and subtle but definitely noticeable. I think the color looks even better on my toes. BTW, when I applied 3 coats of Essie, some polishes peeled off. But so far I have not experienced any chipping. I used to buy OPI more often, but now OPI is getting more pricey. While I like MAC's bold/loud colors, Essie has a nicer selection of sheer and pastel colors. — 1 year, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

My favorite!
MaryTB (3 reviews)Essie is my favorite brand of nail polish, no doubt about it. They have so many shades in every color category ("wicked" is the best red-black!) and of all the brands I have used Essie is the best for avoiding chips and maintaining shine. I even bring my own bottle into the salon when I get my nails done professionally, just in case they don't have my Essie shade on hand! — 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Such An Excellent Colour Range!
CliniqueLover (265 reviews)OPI still remainds my number one choice when it comes to nail polish but Essie definately takes a close second, for one I love love love all these bold, rich, and vibrant shades offered! OPI has good colour selection to but Essie definately has the better variety in bold shades because OPI tends to be more layed back with their polish colours with the ocassional bright collection such as the Spring/Summer 2011 Texas Collection. Anyhoo this has excellent colour payoff and doesn't chip for almost 2 weeks! My favourite shades at the moment would have to be Aruba Blue and Turqoise & Caicos. — 10 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful
