Lush Shower Gels Reviews

Pass my "scratch test"
I have never purchased the same shower gel twice. Every one I have ever used leaves a residue, so I don't feel clean after washing. After washing, I scratch my nails along my thigh. ALWAYS, there is a bunch of junk under my nails. So I switched to soap. No more residue under my nails (or on my body), but I missed the moisturizing benefits of shower gels. So I scooped up small bottles of Tramp, Sonic Death Monkey, and Flying Fox when I visited a Lush store. I love them all. Each has a distinct scent, and all leave me totally clean. While not exactly the most moisturizing, these do dry out my skin. I should also point out that the scents are not fake in the way that most brands' are. For example, I love coffee, but I hate coffee-smelling things. I surprised myself by loving the sweet, rich, true scent of Sonic Death Monkey. Ditto Flying Fox, which eschews the typical sickly sweet floral scent (the hallmark of most synthetic fragrances) in favor of a heady bouquet of jasmine. When I use FF, I'd swear there is a jasmine plant flowering outside my bathroom window. I have long poo-poo'd patchouli as smelling "dirty." Usually, it does. But the way it is used in Tramp is sexy and mysterious. — 4 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Depends on the gel...
Sadly, all of Lush shower gels are rated under one heading right now. I haven't tried and of the shower smoothies, but for the gels, not all of them are created equal. I find Lush shower gels aren't that great for lather junkies, but it isn't the lather that makes you clean, so if you don't mind washing up without tons of bubbles they'll still leave you clean and if you find the right formulation and scent, happy. My favorite of these gels is the Happy Hippy. It has an excellent grapefruit scent and leaves skin feeling fresh in the summer. They are a bit pricey for shower gel though, so I can't afford to only use Lush shower gels. — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Yum.
Since Snow Fairy doesn't have its own entry, I'll write about it here. Pros: Amazing scent that stays, can be used as shampoo, a little goes a long way, colour is pretty, sparkles don't stick, suds up nice and cleans well, and Lush is a great company. Cons: A bit expensive, doesn't moisturize too well but doesn't dry out skin/hair either, and it is limited edition. :( The bottle contains a pink semiviscuous fluid and the bottom half of the liquid has this stuff that looks like snowflakes! Sparkles a intermingled among this "snow" part. This would make an excellent gift. — 4 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Snow Fairy
The only shower gel I've used from Lush is Snow Fairy. It's sweet bubble gum scent can't help but make me smile :) Just for its scent I would be willing to use this daily. However, there is another benefit I should mention from this product. I have Keratosis Pilaris and most shower gels leave behind a residue that irritates and excentuates my bumps. Lush's Snow Fairy not only washes off clean, it also has allowed my skin's condition to approve through a mild moisturizing and gentle cleaning effect. I will be returning to Lush over and over again solely because of this product. I LOVE IT! — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

The Olive Branch
I recently bought a small bottle of the Olive Branch shower gel because I hadn't yet tried LUSH shower gels yet and I really like it. I only bought a gift size (I think it's 3-4 ounces), but I think it's going to last me for a while because it lathers up A LOT. I tend to pour way more than I need on to the bath pouf and then I'm tempted to stay in the shower all day because I don't want all those awesome bubbles to go to waste! Love the smell, love the value, and it doesn't even irritate my sensitive skin. :) — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Flying Fox is so gorgeous!
I bought this because of the heady jasmine fragrance (and the fresh, graphic packaging...so money!)...despite the price, and the fact that I generally hate shower gels, I simply couldn't resist. Sure enough, it was really not my bag...the runny consistency of this gel is all wrong, and it leaves a slight waxy residue on my skin...but the scent is so intoxicating! So, I bought a pump top at Sally Beauty supply and turned it into a glam, oversised bottle of hand soap. Now, whenever anybody in my house washes their hands, the bathroom (and the hall, and the living room, and...) smells like pure heaven....we all wash our hands a lot more! Plus, the super moisturizing power of this potion is just right for nurturing busy hands. — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

flying fox is addictive
I love this shower gel. It smells wonderful and lingers on your skin long after you have rinsed the product off. It claims to help with PMS. I don't know if it is a placebo effect, but when I use it, I am instantly in a better mood. It makes you feel silky and sexy. It is a little pricey, but a little goes a long, long way. — 4 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Tramp trumps all!
Lush shower gels are hit-or-miss for me because I adore some of their scents and can't stand others. The best, in my opinion, is Tramp (deep green, leafy, not sweet at all but still very feminine); if you love the smell of a walk through a mossy, damp green forest, then this is for you! There is also a discontinued wash that comes back periodically, with cocoa butter, cloves and a non-cloying white chocolate . . .truly yummy in a grown-up sophisticated way. What I really dislike are the following: Flying Fox (stinky, not at all like jasmine blossoms or honey); Olive Branch (dusty); Sonic Death Monkey (doesn't smell like real coffee or chocolate, sadly) — 4 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Sonic Death Monkey
I love the name but the smell left a bit to be desired to me. I usually love all Lush smells but this one never really grew on me. It is supposed to smell like chocolate and orange (which is a smell I love) but to me it just smelled like the deoderizer that they spray in your car at a car wash mixed with an ashtray smell. It lathers wonderfully and leaves you feeling clean. The smell isn't horribly disgusting, just not what I was expecting. — 4 years, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Softly-scented Skin
If you're looking for luscious fragrance in your shower, LUSH shower gels are perfect for you. For a sexy, feminine experience, Flying Fox has a rich, slightly sweet jasmine fragrance that will leave your skin smelling great. The Olive Branch is a milder citrus scent that won;t linger as long but is more moisturizing. Both gels are a bit more watery than the typical gel, and while they still lather like champs, use caution when squirting them onto your shower poof, as it's easy to squirt out more than you need. — 4 years, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
