I was really looking forward to testing this Chanel fragrance at Ulta but alas, it was nothing special.The Men's version was boring, too. Perhaps a parfum would be better. Most of chanel smells like old people to me but this one has like a chocolate, deep powdery, it lasts a long time and being parfum lasts longer and requires less, that is why it is also expensive. Allure is one of those fragrances that holds a lot of personal significance for me: A memory scent. It was the first Chanel fragrance I purchased as a just-out-of-the-nest 18 year old who wanted to be sophisticated. I had no idea what "sophisticated" meant, but I knew enough about Coco Chanel to believe that she might help me fake it. Allure is a floral vanillla on me with magnolia at the top. It's classy and youthful at the same time, which could be due to the Itlaian citron. Dunno. In any case it's super sweet at first, and very easy to overuse. One spray lasts all day.The dry-down is almost incensey on me, and it loses those loud, sweet top notes after a couple of hours. That said, Allure is my go-to eau de toilette for special occasions.
