La Mer
Expensive? Yes. I try not to splurge often, but, when you find a product that Actually lives up to its claim it is no longer a splurge. It becomes a necessity. Think of all the money you save by not having to search for a great product! This is a keeper. — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 13 of 17 people said helpful

Amazing
I heard J-Lo smears this all over her body. I guess these are the kinds of things you do when you have disposable income! I bet her skin is amazing, considering what it can do when used sparingly on your face. Your wallet may be crying and empty, but your skin will be glowing. No wonder why this cream has become an instant classic. — 5 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

you can see results
Even just with a sample that I received from the Bloomingdale's cosmetics counter last year I could see results. My skin looked so much better and most of all felt amazing. The lines on my face seemed to just get filled in overnight. Worked for me and if I had a million dollars I'd buy another jar immediately! (I may buy some anyway) — 5 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 6 people said helpful

skin repairing cream
I don't know if this cream can actually deliever on it's claim to undo skin damage. I do know that it feels so good on that I near forget the cost of it. I have never felt a more luxurious face cream before and wouldn't be surprised if it does in fact erase wrinkles as it claims to do. — 5 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 5 people said helpful

Not Enough Results to Justify Price
I bought myself and my sister jars of this "dream" product for Christmas and we had two extremely opposite reactions. She fell in love with this cream and said that she saw immediate amazing results. She raved about how glowing her skin was and how moisturized it could stay all day. It perfected her skin and made her feel absolutely luxurious and amazing all the time. I felt absolutely the opposite way. I thought it was was too thick and therefore didn't absorb into my skin all that much. Yes, my skin was moisturized but no better than other much cheaper moisturizers. I tried it daily for about 2-3 months and then sort of gave up on it. I felt like it left a white residue at time if not really rubbed in and it was a little too waxy or stiff for me. Therefore, she would give this a perfect ten and I would give it a 1. I passed my jar on to her and found Kate Somerville's cyto cell cream afterwards....and all I can say is AMAZZZZZING. My sis also tried some of mine and said it was too thin for her and didn't make her feel luxurious nor did she think it did anything amazing for her skin. So I would not recommend this cream and would say go for the Kate Somerville one instead if you are going to be in this price range. Everyone's skin is different and I guess try a sample of this one before you rule it out. — 1 month, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Save Your Duckets
I hate being Debbie Downer, but I tried this, gave it a month's test-drive, did my research, and can only give this a rating of 5. Yes, it does moiturize, and yes, sometimes there is nothing better than a placebo -- which in my first few days I wanted to believe this product would be the answer to anti-aging -- but this so-called "cult moisturizer/miracle broth" didn't have any significant effect on my skin. (I have been using high-end products for a long time, so I don't always expect to see dramatic results." With ingredients such as sea kelp, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, lecithin, Vitamins C, E and B12, plus oils of citrus, eucalyptus, wheat germ, alfalfa, and sunflower, it is a lovely concoction, but for over $150, save your duckets. According to La Mer, the "miracle broth is distilled and fermented in a special method for 3-4 months and it's the fermentation that gives the broth special oomph. Fermatation my skin! Again, save your duckets. — 5 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 9 of 10 people said helpful

Don't believe the hype -- or price
Crème De La Mer is the original product created by aerospace physicist Max Huber, as described in the brand summary for La Mer. As enticing as this dramatic story sounds, the reality is that this very basic cream doesn’t contain anything particularly extraordinary or unique, unless you want to believe that seaweed extract (sort of like seaweed tea) can in some way heal burns and scars, but there is no research to support that claim. Even if it could, burns and scars don’t have much to do with wrinkling, and this product is now being sold as a wrinkle cream. According to Susan Brawley, professor of plant biology at the University of Maine, “Seaweed extract isn’t a rare, exotic, or expensive ingredient. Seaweed extract is readily available and [is] used in everything from cosmetics to food products and medical applications.” So why then is this product so expensive? The price really is shocking considering that Crème de la Mer contains mostly seaweed extract, mineral oil, Vaseline, glycerin, wax-like thickening agents, lime extract, plant oils, plant seeds, minerals, vitamins, more thickeners, and preservatives. This rather standard moisturizer also contains some good antioxidants, but the jar packaging won’t keep them stable during use. This also contains a skin-stressing amount of eucalyptus oil, as well as Kathon CG, a preservative that is recommended for use only in rinse-off products. Consumers who have a “steadfast devotion” to this product are not only wasting their money but also hurting their skin. A good moisturizer doesn’t need to cost a fortune or come in fancy packaging with legions of hype to really work. — 1 month, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

La Mer Creme
Sorry . . . . . I was very disappointed with this product, which surprised me. I had really high hopes since it's so pricey. NOT !!! I used it for two weeks and I started developing little oil deposits/bumps throughout my skin. Maybe it's just not right for my oily skin type but I'm surprised because one of the sales ladies from the La Mer counter @ Nordstroms assisted me with the purchase, and those consultations are time consuming. I ended up returning it. — 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Normalize & Sooth & great for problem skin
Best moisturizer I have ever used! You can see the difference after just one application! Yes it is very pricey. But let's do the math here. I have dry combination+sensitive+acne prone skin. My normal routine after facial cleanser sometimes would be :1, mask. 2. toner. 3. eye cream. 4, serum. 5, moisturizer. 6. acne products. It is absolutly ridiculous & horrible! But with this cream, I have been feeling so much better! It has it all! — 1 year, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 7 people said helpful

Expensive but worth it
This product is rather pricey, especially when compared to other brands, but that being said, it is absolutely worth it. I have very dry skin, and this product does an amazing job of clearing up the dryness and just making my skin feel amazing. A little goes a long way too, so definitely worth the investment. — 1 year, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
