Surge Is Not the Right Term

The name Colour Surge is kind of an oxymoron for this product considering that there are more mixing medium ingredients than pigment itself. I find making dramatic smokey eyes with this requires a few layers to get a better color payoff but it is a decent price to pay for a higher end up makeup item but the quality should also be up to par to hyperpigmented formulas like MAC. Clinique is known as a natural beauty brand but I expected different from this line and expected it to stand out above all their other cosmetic products. — 4 years ago

Good matte, but pricey

Like other reviewers I find the lack of color options very disappointing in this line. And like all Clinique shadows I find the color saturation is only average. The positives is that they go on evenly, last long with the use of a primer and are non-irritating. I also like the velvets because I can also use them as an eyeliner with my eyeliner brush. However, since it is only average I generally don't pay for them and just enjoy them if they come as a bonus with my other purchases. — 2 years, 5 months ago

i like this Matte shadow alot, just a little disapointed in the lack of color selection. i love the Buttermilk and can use as a base or for just a natural look. But wish that there were more colors to choose from. — 4 years, 3 months ago

Nice Texture

Unfortunateley they no longer make my perfect shade " Pure Neutral ". Not only did it work for my shadow, it's great for filling in sparce eyebrows. There are some fairly close colors, but I wish they would bring that one back. — 4 years, 5 months ago

Nice shadow, pitiful shade selection

I like these matte shadows. They're fairly well pigmented (though not as much as Stila), and they wear well. However, Clinique has chosen not to develop many different shades of this shadow. Such a shame, because if they had more shades, I'd take this shadow more seriously. But if Clinique clearly sees the velvet formula as an afterthought, why should I consider purchasing it? Ingredients: talc, corn starch, zinc stearate, isopropyl isostearate, dimethicone, octyldodecyl searoyl stearate, pentaerythrityl tetraisosterate, ginkgo biloba leaf extract, rosa canina fruit extract, zeolite, tetrasodium edta, bht, sorbic acid, methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben.
