Estee Lauder Artist's Eye Pencil is an easy-to-use, soft pencil with strong, matte color in eight shades. It's great for those who are new to eyeliner. It doesn't exactly glide on like butter, but after a few passes you'll have a dramatic line that can be softened with the attached smudger (or a fingertip). The pencil's thickness makes it hard to get a fine line, but it's possible to get really close to the lash line. Although it claims to provide "long-wearing, stay-in-place" color, expect some smudging and fading by day's end.

Really works for me

I got three of these last Christmas. They came in a holiday gift set that I received from my bosses. I have to say that I really like them! The texture is very creamy, and the pencils glide along my eyelids really easily. The colors are pretty soft, so this might not be for you if you're looking for richer, more highly pigmented shades.
