Estee Lauder Artist's Eye Pencil is an easy-to-use, soft pencil with strong, matte color in eight shades. It's great for those who are new to eyeliner. It doesn't exactly glide on like butter, but after a few passes you'll have a dramatic line that can be softened with the attached smudger (or a fingertip). The pencil's thickness makes it hard to get a fine line, but it's possible to get really close to the lash line. Although it claims to provide "long-wearing, stay-in-place" color, expect some smudging and fading by day's end.

    Nice colors, nice texture, but the most important thing to me is how long it stays...and this didn't. September 15, 2008, 4:05 am

    Wouldn't Recommend It

    This pencil is too hard & dry, unlike the advertising says. It should definitely be softer as it's hard to move around & difficult to apply. Doesn't go on smoothly, quickly, or easily. I like to smudge liners, but with this one it's difficult. June 13, 2008, 10:59 pm

    AWESOME

    Ever since I was little, my mom has always bought Estee Lauder makeup. She gave me this eye pencil in slate writer. I tried it and loved it. I tried looking for a drugstore brand in a similar color....but nothing worked nearly as well...so I end up paying more for a better color and quality. It goes on great and lasts all ...day!     I've tried so many types of eye pencils from cheap to expensive and these are the best! I use a little Estee Lauder shadow over the pencil on my lower lid to help combat any fine lines or oil. My liner stays put all day no matter how much I sweat or even being in the rain. It's nice to not have to think about touching up... my makeup during the day. August 13, 2009, 12:15 pm

    i swear by it

    i think i've been using this eye pencil since i started stealing it from my mom in 7th grade. the pencil is easy to sharpen to a fine point which can be hard with other soft smudge eye liners. this is good because u can create a sharp, defined cat eye look, or a smudged smoky look. another perk is that although its a little... pricey, one stick will last u forever and won't crack or dry out like a drug store version. highly recommended May 18, 2009, 8:40 pm

    Great pencil

    This pencil goes on easy and stays on all day. Doesnt tug or pull when applying and the White writer goes on a true white...I like to use it on my waterline to really brighten my eyes! It nis best to use the estee lauder sharpener with these pencils though....my other sharpener just seems to grind them up. May 7, 2009, 7:29 am

    This eyeliner goes on smoothly and stays all day. I have "softsmudge black" and it goes with all my eyeshadows. It almost has too much staying power-its really hard for me to wash off at night! But I love it anyway. December 9, 2008, 8:29 am

    Soft and Natural

    I love this eyeliner and have it in several shades. It lasts a long time on me and I have oily eyelids. The shades are not harsh, but soft and natural looking. This is a keeper. October 8, 2008, 8:48 pm
