    was skeptical

I thought this would break out my face b/c I tend to steer towards oil-free, gel-like primers. I like the fact that this is a serum and primer in one, cuts out prep time. I haven't noticed any significant changes yet, but its not a bad product. My skin feels somewhat smoother.

    very nice addition

I bought the CoverFX foundation and found it very thick and heavy. On my last trip to Sephora I was given a sample of the priming serum and wow what a difference. My otherwise thick and clay like cover-up went on smooth and creamy. I am definitely going to purchase this assuming it isn't discontinued.

    Extremely necessary.

PROS: Wonderful addition to the Cover FX Cream foundation! Makes foundation last and last, actually makes the thick cream possible to blend, keeps the foundation on and makes your skin super silky and smooth. I adore this stuff. MUCH better than Smashbox, and best of all it contains actual nutrients and smooths out wrinkles. Love it! CONS: Expensive. Why does the product description say discontinued? It's still being sold in all the Sephora stores that carry Cover FX.

    Very smooth, but oily...

Skinprep went on very smooth, but not good for oily skin. My make up literally slide off my face!

One of the best kept secrets

I cant stress how much I love this product. I'm a big fan of primers, So I've tried everything from Laura Mercier to Smashbox. And this is still my favorite. The idea of a primer is to create a flawless application for your foundation and therefore have a more flawless appearance and it's really great at achieving "No Makeup" makeup looks. This product glides on easily and a little goes ...read morea long way. I usually rub 2 pumps on the tips of my fingers and apply all over my face including eyelids ( helps to avoid creasing of eyeshadows) now you can use a moisturizer or not.. as my skin tends to be oily I dont need to.. but you're dry.. use a moisturizer despite anything this product CAN NOT replace a good moisturizer. It has a light floral scent.. and I actually found it a lot lighter than Smashbox, still a silicone feel, but it is less of a moisturizer than Laura Mercier ( which applies more like a lotion). Now I have acne prone skin, and the best partof this product is that it is non-comodegenic and it also contains all sorts of treats ie anti-inflammorty ingrdients and vitamins that it's competitors doesnt. Which is why its also called a treatment. So after It's applied I wait a minute to let it sink in and fill my pores evening skin texture ( silicone is one product that wont be absorbed by your skin which is how these primers work so well.. they fill in problem spots and smooth out texture while avoiding causing breakouts as your skin doesnt recognize it) I either use a powder/liquid foundation.. Witha liquid foundation I find that i can slide it on better . same with powder.. and i actually end up using less makeup as my skin isnt drinking it at the same time lol. But the test of a good primer is that it prolongs the life of your makeup and doesnt let it get oily and sink into your pores halfway through the day.. AND this primer WORKS! I have uneven textured skin.. been on accutane twice and have used multiple retinods/scar treatments .. so trust me when I say my skin is not the best.. but this product helps out a lot. It prevent my skin from soaking up my makeup and helps eliminate shine that appears halfway through the day.. as the CoverFX works as a barrier for it. Overall it does its job.. and I actually DONT use it with only my coverfx foundation.. I use it interchangeably with my Bobbi Brown/Iman foundations and powders and there's no difference to me. In comparison to competition it holds up quite well. Smashbox for me caused breakouts.. it contains far more silicone making it a little denser in texture and feel... which isnt necessarily a bad thing but it just didnt work for me ( plus i didnt get the bonus treatment ingredients) and Laura Mercier may be more moisturizing but it didnt hold up all day for due to the fact that my skin absorbed it... And COverfx is only 45.00CAD.. which is pretty damn good ! I hope you give it try

Necessary Add-On to Cover FX Foundation

I recently purchased Cover FX foundation, and I knew from reading reviews (even before the Cover FX rep hit me up in Sephora) that this really is a necessary add-on to the foundation. Somehow the foundation doesn't work well on its own -- it needs the Skinprep as a base. The feel of this product is a slippery silicone. It feels somewhat heavy on my face when I first put it on, but it then sin...read moreks in quite well. (And, to it's credit, it hasn't broken me out at all.) People with normal skin generally won't need a separate moisturizer underneath. However, on dry days I've used a light moisturizer underneath (you could also add a sunscreen if you're worried that the SPF 15 in the foundation isn't enough) and it didn't seem to change things for the worse. The Cover FX rep enthused that she wears this as a moisturizer at night too, but I can't imagine that it beats any "real" moisturizer on the market. Too heavy and slippery, and I don't think its REAL purpose is moisture. Basically, I don't see any use for this product if you don't also use the Cover FX foundation. But if you do, it's necessary -- and I'll do whatever I have to do for my beloved foundation!
