The ULTIMATE Fragrance!
Chanel No. 5 is heralded as the world's finest perfume, with good reason. It was the first fragrance released by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel in 1921 (compounded by a Russian-French chemist). Until that time, women of class wore a single-note floral scent. Coco wanted to embrace the feminism rising at the time by including a few more notes. A key ingredient is the "Rosa Centifolia" (the "May Rose"), still grown exclusively in the fields of Grasse, France. Other components are Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Orange Blossom, Dutch Jonquil, Florentine Iris--and Musk, Patchouli, and Vetiver, which give it its heady, sophisticated, sultry quality. What Coco created is a fragrance that has withstood time and trends (in the 1950's, Marilyn Monroe was asked what she wore to bed and said, "Five drops of Chanel No. 5"). It is a magnificent, sophisticated, yet seductive fragrance. My husband goes wild when I wear it, so I save it for special occasions. Drives the husband wild
I own just about everything No. 5. This classy bottle and fragrance are a favorite and it drives my husband wild. Men always comment when I wear this scent. The black cannister is refillable which is very cool and it protects the glass. When you run out of your spray, you remove the bottle and refill with a new bottle. Smells so good on my mother.
I only like this scent on my mother, on me it is horrid!! It is a classy love fragrance, my father bought 5 bottles for her in Paris and after using the last bottle she never wore it again because it seems the paris 5 is different from the states because she can't wear the scent it smells different. Timeless classic every woman should own
There is a reason this perfume has been around for over 80 years and is always a best seller. The sandalwood and vetiver base notes are what lingers after the top and middle notes of ylang-ylang, jasmine, and mayrose subside a couple hours after application. Some people describe it as an almost powdery scent, but I personally have never experienced that. Whenever I wear this fragrance I always feel sexy and sophisticated and like I can take on the world. Expensive classic
I know it is a classic, but it does has average length of wear and a high price. My ratings are based on price and quality and length of wear due to the fact that different perfumes react differently with body chemistries. On me the scent is powdery with a floral undertone that turns a bit powder vanilla-y at the bottom notes. The bottles of Chanel are always great. They feel quality and look beautiful. The length of wear for this perfume is about average in my mind. I Love This So Much!
