Clarins doesn't make any of there wonderful mascaras waterproof so this goes on over your mascara and it creates a waterproof shield. It does work but don't expect to go swimming with this stuff... it's not that waterproof. I also find that it makes my lashes a little clumpy. Not my favorite product.
