bareMinerals SPF 25 Mineral Veil Reviews

Barely Effective . . .
Who knew? It seemed like just last week that I was using anything and everything to stop my skin from shining. Pressed powder and oil-blotting papers were a staple in my purse, and I used oil-fighting, mattifying ingredients when I washed. It still wasn't enough. I added astringent towelettes and sometimes would use them at lunch and redo my makeup to keep from a complete melt-down, particularly during the summer months. Then someone--I'd like to know who!--put life on super fast-forward. The "oil wells" have gone dry, too dry at times, and I now find myself on a continual search for items to bring back a natural glow, a dewy finish. One of the first products I used was from Bare Minerals. This company is so wildly acclaimed and popular that I assumed their products were perfect--not so! I was greatly disappointed with their "Mineral Veil." It is proclaimed as a "spectacular finale for any kind of complexion." It is supposed to give your skin "airbrushed perfection." Perhaps if you are twenty-one years old with utterly flawless skin. I found that it added some sheen, to be sure, and it helped to keep my makeup in place to a minor extent. But it also accentuated tiny lines and creases which aren't normally visible. Worse yet, other imperfections were exacerbated with this veil, such as blemishes and pores. There was a somewhat "cakey" texture which I found more than a little annoying. When Bare Minerals came out with their "HYDRATING VEIL," I immediately knew that others had had the same problems as I did. I never returned to this company. When I want a fresh, soft radiance, I have great results with Senna's "Glisten Powder" in rose or Smashbox's "Soft Lights" powder in "Lens" (a tender peach color) or "Prism" (gentle pink). They are far more flattering and do not call attention to my beauty concerns. — 2 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Mineral Veil
This is a powder than can sit in your pores, wrinkles, lines, and any other imperfections. It would be fine for someone with perfectly normal skin. Good highlighter for those people. — 1 year, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Unimpressed
I don't know, maybe I need to give this another shot, but I didn't really think it was any better than an ordinary translucent powder. I do like that it was loose, but I didn't really think it was a special product. — 2 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 6 people said helpful

wonderful
I never like to go out completely without makeup, but anytime I go to the gym, it seems pointless to go with a full face of makeup, so I put on a little bit of primer and top it off with this. It illuminates my skin without weighing it down. It's just a sheer coverage, but it goes on beautifully with BE face brushes. it doesn't go on cakey and it's wonderful to set your face if you do put on a full face of makeup. — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 8 of 13 people said helpful

No good.
After seeing tons of ads claiming that this product was practically a miracle, and that the coverage was incredibly buildable, I got a free sample at Sephora. It made my face itchy, I couldn't get any kind of coverage, despite spending almost 20 minutes on it, and the product is just kind of messy. Not worth the price at all. — 2 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 6 people said helpful

Not For Me!
This, like all Bare Minerals face products, only sticks to my peach fuzz. Yuck! — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 4 people said helpful

Nice finish
I use this to finish of my makeup and it just sets everything into place. sometimes, it does make my nose look a little oily, but that is if I use too much. — 7 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Not a fan
The bare minerals powder alone does not cover some of my darkest sun spots and acne scars, thus, after reading the positive reviews I finally decided to try the original version of the mineral veil. It covers some of my sun spots and acne scars. But if I don't use it all over my face, I can see where I try to cover up. When I use it all over face, the natural color of my neck does not match with my face anymore. I use a little, there is barely a difference, but if I use too much, my face look cakey. I can definitely go without it. — 3 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

Mineral Veil with SPF 25
This is one version of Mineral Veil that I prefer over the original version. It's got a bit more shimmer to it to give you more of a glow, as opposed to being a skin finisher. I never have to use more than a pinch. If you're worried about this settling into lines and/or wrinkles, add a pinch of it to your moisturizer before you set about applying make-up. It will give you a little bit of additional, and highly necessary, SPF protection, and a dewy look underneath your make-up, especially if you're fair skinned. — 8 months, 4 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
