An Amazing, Effective Remover
I'm amazed at the number of negative reviews for Estèe Lauder's "Gentle Eye Makeup Remover." Are we reviewing the same item? Perhaps I received a bottle that is extremely exceptional. This non-scented, lightweight, gentle liquid is fragrance-free. It is also completely oil-free, dermatologist- and ophthalmologist-tested, and recommended for contact lens wearers and those with sensitive skin. ...read more I have used it for more years than I like to count; before I critique a product, I generally try it again to make sure I am confident of how I feel and that I remember all of the attributes. I used it about ten minutes ago and smiled the whole time. Within thirty seconds or so, every last trace of eye shadow primer, eye shadows, liner (both liquid and pencil), brow products, and waterproof mascara were absolutely and totally gone. It leaves a cool, refreshing feeling and the eye area so immaculately clean that you could immediately apply more makeup afterward without waiting. I would even go as far as recommending it over Lancôme's "BI-FACIL Double Action Eye Makeup Remover," an item which I also love. Even the best eye makeup removers can make me tear up a bit, but not Estée Lauder's. Not very effective
It was a part of Gift w/ Purchase product some time ago. But I wonder Gentle means "gentle" for the makeup. Actually, it removed eyeshadow (after several wipes), but it was not very effective at getting rid of mascara and eyeliner. If it was a water-proof product, forget it. Too expensive for a mediocre product
The positives are this is not oily and does not irritate my skin and is great to clean up eye makeup mistakes and keep in your purse to clean up smudges throughout the day. Best I have found
This is the best liquid makeup remover I have ever used. It is gentle and it works like a dream. You need very little and it lasts forever. I prefer to use the flat cotton pads to remove eye makeup. I have used brands in the past that I’ve given up on because of eye allergies and sensitizes or even ineffectiveness. We all know how stubborn waterproof mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow can be and even eye area concealer. Not to mention, you don’t want to scrub too much around the eye area, which is home to your most delicate skin and where damage can so easily occur. This being said, I decided to look for the most gentle products on the market. When I searched for “gentle” + “eye makeup remover” I came upon the Estee Lauder gentle eye makeup remover. Yay! I was so excited to find something that claimed to be gentle. The real test would be using it on my sensitive eyes. Well, I got it in the mail and the first most awesome thing I noticed upon opening the bottle was that it was virtually scent free. Good sign for someone with sensitivity issues like me. I put a dab on a cotton round and gentle started using on my upper eye lid. It worked great and I could definitely see what was removed on the cotton round. I tried it on the lower lid and found it to work a little less effectively unless I folded the round in half and really got into that small space, but it turned out to work just fine. I didn’t have to scrub too hard and I didn’t have any irritations. Great for quick shadow removal
To be honest I've never used this to take ALL eye makeup off but it seems to work very well for what I use it for. I have a trial (gwp) size that I keep in my makeup box to use specifically for when I get a tiny bit of mascara on my eye lids and need a quick clean up so I can reapply eye shadow directly after. For that purpose it works better than Neutrogena (which is what I use to take my make-up...read more off at night) since Neutrogena can leave a bit of an oily residue behind so reapplying eye shadow directly following that doesn’t work so great. Another use I feel it has that is excellent is when you have a lot of fall out with a particularly sparkly eye shadow and need to clean up cheeks or under eye area. Gentle?
My mother gave me hers for me to use since I wear heavier eye make up then she does. However, I don't like this product very much. It does not have alcohol in it or smells bad, but it makes my eyes hurt. I wondered if it's my makeup that's hurting my eyes, but it is definitely this product. Is it water?
