I got two of these free (Spice Writer and Mocha Writer) with a purchase of lipstick. They are soft and creamy enough to go on smoothly without tugging. But they are firm enough to stay in place. They have made me want to get some of the cooler colors like Plummy Writer and Wine Writer.
