L'Oréal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Color Truth Cream Eyeliner Reviews

"Straight to the Point"
Napolean Perdis, Stila Smudge Pots, Clinique Cream Eyeliner, MAC Fluidline, etc. - Now? L'Oreal's HIP Cream Eyeliner. The packaging is basically a glass jar with a plastic screw lid. It comes with a brush but let me tell you about the brush, it's mediocre. While the convenience of a brush sounds like a deal, I found it too thick to create winged lines or for the waterline; I'm not really aiming for the gypsy look. It isn't flattering on me. The brush is also a little stiff, rigid and can scratch the lids if you aren't careful. I do recommend using another eyeliner brush if you're looking for more precise detailing. The lasting power of this eyeliner is impressive, just about as long as the luxe brands but it's too bad it's near luxe price. For five dollars more, you're at the Clinique counter buying their version or perhaps even MAC. After it's reached it's staying capability, which for me, I'd say it was eight or nine hours throughout the day, it flaked a bit. Overall, I'd still give it a higher rating just because this is sold conveniently almost just about anywhere if the mall or a boutique is miles away and it performs just as well as "the names." — 4 years, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Great for clumsy people who love a liquid liner look
I love cream and gel eyeliners because I can get a super smooth line with them but find them easier to control than liquid liners. The HiP line of cream eyeliners is in my make-up box but they aren't perfect. First of all, like many other reviewers have said, the brush is terrible. It is scratchy and found that the bristles didn't want to stay lined up when I applied my eyeliner, giving me a wonky line. Go ahead and turn it into an eyebrow brush. I haven't had a problem with my eyeliner drying out as of yet (about 2 months) and I love that I can pick up HiP for a lot less if I just wait for a sale. This liner goes on quite smooth and has a gorgeous color. If you haven't used a cream liner I recommend short connecting strokes to get a perfect and smooth line. It also lasts a long time, but it doesn't work quite as well as some of my other cream and gel liners so I can't rate it as high as them because at full price the difference in cost is minimal and the difference in quality is slightly more than minimal. However, if you can get this stuff on sale it is totally worth it! I especially love the blue, it is really striking. — 4 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

My favorite gel liner
I use this liner when I go out with my friends during the evening. It adds a lot to the look, especially if you are going for a smoky eye look. I wouldn't really recommend it for day wear. Overall, a very good eyeliner! — 3 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Wouldn't buy again
I say that I wouldn't buy this product again because I really don't like wasting money. While this is a good eyeliner, it dries out way too quickly and I end up throwing it out. L'oreal should come up with a better formula or make smaller pots because it's impossible to use it up even with daily use. — 4 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

My Most-Used Eyeliner
I love this eyeliner. Pencils melt and smudge for me usually and liquid doesn't like to stay on my waterline much. This stays all day with minimal melting off of my waterline and I get a lot of uses out of one pot. The brush that comes with it is a bit harsh on the sensitive eye skin, so I bought my own and it works like a dream. Unfortunately, the brush needs to be taken very good care of or it'll get hard at the bristles. Simply cleaning it often and not dipping the brush in too deeply has kept mine functioning. Overall: I would recommend this to a friend. — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 5 people said helpful

Maybe...
I bought this product quite a while ago and still have a ton left in the pot so you definitely get a good bang for your buck. The color (I went with standard black) is nice and true to what it appeared when I purchased it. The little brush makes it easy to get a good line on the top lid however it doesn't work well at all for lining the bottom inner rim and can actually be quite irritating to the skin there. I tend to have oily eyelids as the day goes on which often made this liner all but disappear so perhaps someone with drier skin may find that it lasts longer. Overall I wouldn't purchase again because I want something that will last all day but if you have drier skin, it might be worth a try. — 6 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Great product, hate the brush
I'm a big fan of this product. I bought it in the dark brown and I love the copper tone that it has. I have fair skin, dark hair, and blue eyes so black or really dark eyeliner tends to make me look... well, on the verge of gothic. Not that it's a bad look -- it's just not the look I'm going for. This color is the right shade of brown to give my eyes definition but not overpower my face. I love the consistency of the eyeliner. It glides on super smooth. I can apply a sharp line or I can blend it in to create a smoky effect. I just have to remember not to blink until it dries. I HATE the brush that comes with it, though. It's rough, the bristles separate when I try to apply it, they scratch my eyelid, etc. The bristles also don't pick up any liner at all, so I found myself digging the brush into the pot to get product on it. I ended up just pitching the brush and using my own angled liner brush to apply the liner. As long as I wash the bristles after every use, it doesn't ruin my brush! — 1 year agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Great!!
If you like wearing very dark eye makeup then the 905 Black is for you! It goes on wonderfully and stays on without smearing all day long! It gives the desired smokey effect and looks great! I love the brush as well, although it is more difficult to get a thin application. — 1 year agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Good Product, But Swap the Brush
The product itself is highly pigmented and creamy. It doesn't dry out too easily unless you leave it open on your makeup counter too long. It's matte enough for you to create sharp edges, then set with powder. You can blur the edges for a smoky look as well. One word of advice - swap the brush for an angled one. It's very likely you'll dislike the tiny, coarse plastic number. Save yourself the trouble and ignore the brush that comes with the package. Take one of your angled brushes and enjoy. — 1 year, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
