Chanel Les 4 Ombres Reviews

Expected better
I have the "Dunes", which is great for the bronze or autumn look. The texture of each color is powdery, but soft and light like velvet. When applied for the first time, I noticed that it was not chalky at all, but at the same time the color was not very vivid. Therefore, I had to apply a few times. For the price I paid, I expected to the color to stay much longer, but unfortunately, I needed to re-apply during my bathroom break. This quad is good for sheer shadowing, but for a more intense/vivid shadowing you will need something like Clinique Touch Base for Eyes. — 2 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Beautiful Shades, High Pigment
I have a love/hate relationship with this product, meaning I love the product and hate the price. LOL I have several of these quads and they last forever because they're so highly pigmented that you only need a tiny bit on your brush to get the effect you want. While I normally don't like to spend this much money on a product, if its something I love, can't easily duplicate on the cheap or its something I use daily, I am willing to spend the extra on it. That's the case with this product and I use either Dunes or Prelude on a daily basis. For anyon who hasn't tried this product and wants to, either of the above color combos are great for daily wear and an excellent introduction to this product. Just be forewarned- you will be addicted and there is no 12 step program! LOL — 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Great Colors!
I love these Chanel quads! They are all so pretty! The only thing, they arent highly pigmented compared to other eyeshadows that I have tried. You definetly need to use an eye primer before using these, otherwise they color will come out very sheer and a bit muddy. They go on pretty smoothly and blend well. These are an investment, so make sure before you buy these that you will actually use all 4 colors. If not, I would opt for the single shadows. — 1 year, 12 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Le Splurge
This is definetely in the splurge category-a MAJOR luxury item but if you are going to do it on something this is a great candidate. The color choices and combos are amazing and they go on true to how they look-plus they really last. You can do SO much-its almost like having a mini artists palate. I can't do it all the time-wish it was more affordable-but I guess in some places you get what you pay for. There are many great budget eye shadow buys but this one really delivers for the money. — 3 years, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Chalkish
Its a good eyeshadow-don't get me wrong. But it is a little chalky for the money you are spending — 2 weeks, 4 days agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Great combo
I have used many of Chanel products and all Chanels makeup stays on, even if your out dancing and get heated up. You can wipe your face and it will still have the makeup on your face at the end of the night. All Chanel products live up to what they say. The only problem is it cost so much. — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

wanted to love it
i have used every eyeshadow under the sun (except for maybe the cheapest ones that are under 3 or so dollars) and i have never had a bad reaction to any of them (and i have no known allergies) until i bought this quad. as soon as the shadow was applied, my skin started burning and my eyes were itching like mad. even after i scrubbed it off, my eyelids were swollen and my skin was inflamed. its a shame because the colors are pretty, but not nearly as vivid as in the packaging. i love the glamor of chanel, but i'll pass on this. — 2 years, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Not Your Drugstore Brand!
Several reviewers said you can duplicate Chanel with drugstore brands, but that hasn't been my experience. All my drugstore searches (and I want a bargain as well as the next gal) have not turned up a single brand that compares to Chanel's refined and elegant colors, satin smooth application, and blendability. Chanel makes the other brands seem coarse and garish in comparison. Since I am an older woman, I leave the glitter and bright colors to the younger ladies. I want colors that are on point as far as trends go, but bespeak of a stunning ease and elegance. In the past, Chanel was criticized for fading, but the latest palettes wear much longer. I put the shadows on in the morning and they are still there in the evening. The bottom line: if you can't afford Chanel, there are many good drugstore brands, but if you can afford Chanel, then buy it because there is really no substitute. — 3 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful
