  • "Train" your candle to burn efficiently: at each lighting, let it burn until the liquid wax pool reaches the edge of the container. Straighten the wick and trim the blackened "fluff" after each use. Always keep a burning candle within sight and out of reach of children and pets. Never use a knife or sharp object to remove wax drippings; doing so can weaken the glass, causing it to break upon subsequent use. Instead, try freezing the candle briefly; wax drippings will more easily pop off.
